We know that Nintendo loves nostolga and that they love selling systems of multiple colors, but who here thinks we'll get a Game and Watch version of the DS somewhere down the road similar to the Classic NES and Famicom GBA SP units out there?

I mean the Game and Watch was Nintendo's first entry into handhelds and the creator of the Game and Watch also created the Gameboy. I think releasing a Game and Watch DS would be the perfect thing for Nintendo. I'm sure if Gameboy's creator, Gumpei Yokoi, was alive today he'd love to see it (even though the DS isn't a Gameboy system).

I think it'd be really cool (far cooler than the NES SP) but I don't there's widespread enough knowledge of the Game and Watches to garner enough nostalgia to make them anywhere near as big of a seller as the NES SP.

Well, the G&W series for Gameboy were just a collection of the original G&W games. Considering the extremely bare technology used in the original games, Gameboy I thought did about all it could porting the series. If they brought it to the DS, they couldn't really add anything to it and still be able to call them Game & Watch anymore.

All they really were, were a collection of mini-games. Wario Ware and Feel the Magic already seem to have that category covered as the new generation of mini-game collections.

I think he's talking about a color scheme for the DS itself, much like the NES SP.

How about a Mario's Cement Factory style DS?

How long do you think it will be before they deviate from the standard silver variety? And what do you think their first LE one will be?

They have a long history of releasng different coloured handhelds dating back to the old GameBoy monochrome...

Nintendo already announced four new colours (black, white, minty green and pink) apart from the blue pepsi LE one.

I'd much rather have a Game & Watch Gallery on the DS since it can now do justice to the 2-screen G&W games.

There wasnt a Double Screen Mario's Cement Factory was there IIRC... so how would they do it?

How would they do the games that have the screens horizontally next to each other?

Easy! Just hold the system on it's side!

And I think that the G&W theme would be awesome. Actually I know that there's some people working on a G&W skin currently....

If they did it would probably be a Japan-only release.

I'll just sit back and wait for an Ice Blue/Surf Blue variant to come along. I'd be all over that. :-P
