DP was and is not responsible...
Sure they are, since apparently the admins here aren't as quick to respond as those from some other sites.
Or so I've heard

So you expect the forum's admins here to react as fast as, say, AA, even through DP WAS HIT DURING THE NIGHT, and AA DURING THE DAY??? You know, some people actually do need to sleep... (and nevermind the fact that PDF was actually up at that point and did all he could to warn people about it, both via #vbender and our Yahoo Group, until an admin - not a mod - could take action...).

No, he doesn't.
Actually he is just again trying to start another flame war between DP and AA where I made a JOKE (http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=65557&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=)(!) about which admins are better. Please, don't fall for these tactics.
BTW: Both (all) boards where hit at about the same time. AA had just more luck, because coincidentally Albert was still awake when it happened. Though sometimes I really wonder if he sleeps at all. ;)

I really don't know what's going on now. It was a joke and I made very clear it was a joke (then and now again). So please, don't try to twist my words.
If you IMO overreact that much, maybe you should ask yourself if you are taking things a little bit too serious. Its just our (common!) hobby, not a bloody war, isn't it?
Or is that your way of saying "Thank you!" for informing us about the virus? :/

Many a truth is said in jest, my fine friend. Of all the funny "jokes" you could have shared with the site visitors, you have to bring up an old grudge. I'm not overreacting - I wouldn't have even mentioned it (and yes, I did see it previously) if you hadn't pointed us all to it.
I ask once again, that you keep your "jokes" to simple puns, riddles, and the occasional limerick and keep your hilarious little jabs at our site to yourself.
Or is that your way of saying "Thank you!" for informing us about the virus? :/
Big f'ing deal Thomas. As if I wouldn't notice that my own site had a hacked message on top of it. And when I asked you for help you had "no clue".
I don't twist your words, you simply speak with a forked tongue, thinking that your little innuendos can be passed off as humor.
You're the only one laughing.

Yes, it's CLEARLY a joke just because you used the little "winky" icon.
Did you ever notice, no one makes those kinds of jokes except you? Thinly veiled shots at DP are what they really are. Except you don't have the guts to say it, apparently.

See, Scott's tactics has worked again. A little hint from him, someone reacts, I try to explain the situation and now you jump at me. I have to admit, that was very clever from you, Scott. You must be a very happy man now.

There was no "jab at your site", but that's something you probably don't want to understand. If you prefer to interprete everything I say the negative way, then be happy with that. But I won't restrict my words, just because of you having problems.

Ok, I got you. Next time I neither will offer my help nor point you to any place where you might find it. If you want to create a big trench between you and me, there is nothing I can do against it.

f you had actually helped me I'd thank you, as I always do to everyone who ever does. Your "help" was to tell me my site was hacked, which was not only patently obvious but surely a pleasure to pass along. When the time came to help you had none to offer.
But by continuing to divide the community you severely harm our common hobby. And that's were I start to care. And I really hope you do too.
Again, this is your doing. Keep your yap shut about who's admins are better, who's site is better, and none of this ever happens. You're the only person who ever brings it up anymore.

No, I am maybe the only person, who is not afraid to come "over here" without restricting his words. I know very well, this has been turned into a hostile environment for me or anybody else who is suspected to be on the wrong side and not censoring himself.
But since I am convinced this separating development is very wrong, I will continue to (rarely) post here and not censor my words (or jokes), just because someone wants to interprete everything negatively.
Maybe it's time that those problems which cause those animosities are either solved or finally discussed in public. The current, extremely tense situation, where even a simple joke (funny or not) is causing so much trouble is IMO not positive at all.

What a hippocrite. "Let's play nice" and you're always the first one in to stoke the coals. This issue WAS dead until you unearthed it again in your own jolly way.
For what it's worth, last time I tried to "settle things publicly" I was first locked, then ignored.

You know, the issue was never dead, else I could have never caused this reaction. And will never die if it is just ignored. Instead it will silently increase it's negative effects.
For what it's worth, last time I tried to "settle things publicly" I was first locked, then ignored.
Not from me. I am not Albert or Alex. Please don't try to stereotype "us", because there is no "us". I am as much an individual as you are.

You seem to want to represent a truce, and yet all you do is dig up old dirt. These wounds can heal if you'd just stop picking at the scabs. And if you're not Albert or Alex, then what business is ANY of this to you?

I am not picking at any scabs. A joke about admins has nothing to do with the original reasons of the problems.
And IMO nothing is healing, as long as there are people who are interested in not letting that happen.
And if you're not Albert or Alex, then what business is ANY of this to you?
Because it's not just an issue between you and them. It's between very important and influential members. That's what you are. All of you.

I don't want to jump in where I have no business, but I think it's worth adding that neither I nor any other member who is relatively new to DP would have had any clue that a rivalry even existed were it not for your comments, Thomas.
I've never seen any evidence of it even in the old threads that are continually recycled around here. In light of that, I don't understand your determination to cause trouble. This is the most courteous and level-headed videogame community I've encountered, and I respectfully ask you not to bring down the standard of behavior because of some pointless personal crusade against an issue that, while obviously provoking, is otherwise of very little interest to the veteran members here and is of absolutely zero significance to the more recent members.

I got your request. This is no personal crusade (at least not from me) and the issue is not pointless by far. IMO it is dead serious.
But I start to understand, that the majority is hoping that by just ignoring it, it will eventually disappear. While I completely disagree, I will respect that wish and stop talking about it over here.

Oh, we know this latest flap isn’t your fault, Thomas. It never is. Once again it’s mine, right? Yes, I’m so clever that I can influence you to say whatever I want, at will. How fiendishly and devilishly clever of me! Alas, if only my powers worked so easily on women... I suppose it’s just some weird coincidence then that you decided to pop over here and graciously offer your sage advice, while at the same time slagging (I mean...”joking about”) us elsewhere. Know what? Joe is right- you are not funny. But look on the bright side- your comments (i.e. spin) show marked improvement. From your replies, it’s as though there are TWO different Jentzsch’s:
http://home.ptd.net/~scottith/jgood.jpg http://home.ptd.net/~scottith/jevil.jpg
Is this possible? Since you can’t seem to restrain yourself from repeatedly eating your own shoe leather, it would be helpful if you can tell us which one you are when posting. Maybe the rest of us could be spared yet another of your round-about pointless flame threads.
I flat-out told you the last time you raised a stink (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40324) here that I would not sit quietly by. I’ll continue to call you out on your bs, and make everyone here aware of your real intentions - that behind your seldom innocuous posts (which IMO are only an effort to repair your image here), you’re one of the most anti-DP people in the community. You’ve shown that many times, and you continue to do so… all by yourself. If you want to call my reaction to your comments a “tactic”, so be it, but realize that if you hadn’t made that divisive crack, this thread would not exist. Right now, the only joke is you.
You needn’t worry though… I’m sure somehow…some way… us poor, forsaken little “children” will manage to go on, even without your help. And since this will be my one and only post in this thread, consider any future replies of mine to be,

*sigh* Thomas, you claim this was blown all out of proportion because people can't take an innocent joke. That you meant no harm.
Let's step into the Way Back Machine:
http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32899&highlight=xype
For those of you clicking the old link above, one thing you need to know: The missing picture I posted was of commedian Mike Myers dressed as Angus from the SNL sketch "All Things Scottish." Remember? He'd always scream "If it ain't Scottish, it's CRAP!" You know, showing his pride in what is made in his country. I drew a similar parallel between Thomas and his company Xype - that he too is proud in what his company makes.
Thomas, remember how you reacted? (It's in the thread if you need to be reminded) You were concerned that I was having a joke at your expense - that I was implying that you were egotistical. That you felt that - if it wasn't made by you/Xype members, that you thought it was subpar. You were concerned because - wait for it - YOU DIDN'T 'GET' THE JOKE!
My innocent comment caused you angst. And we discussed the very DP/AA rift in the thread above. That innocent comments cannot be made because - get this - PEOPLE READ TOO MUCH INTO THEM. I apologized, we talked about how these misunderstandings occur, and everyone went on with their lives.
You did it yourself this time. Your joke fell flat. People may have read into it. But rather than posting a "mea culpa," you have done nothing but argue and defend yourself with the old "You can't take a joke? YOu must be thin-skinned! See, I even put the winky guy!"
Ironic, that you yourself are fighting tooth and nail tryng to get in the last word/defend what you posted as being innocent, rather than owning up and realizing that - may be - what you posted was not funny and people would react badly to it. And since the shoe was on the other foot less than a year or so ago, I would've thought you'd have a bit more insite into this situation.
Damn, I am truly dissappointed. I thought *you* of all people would be above this, considering what happened in the post I marked above.

I really doubt any "mea culpa" would have helped at all. If somebody wants to see everything from the negative perspective it would only have opened space for another wave or attacks. Any word from me here will cause someone to continue to attack me (intending to hit AA). Even an offer to stop talking about the existing problems and to avoid making misunderstandable jokes regarding DP didn't change anything.
I never said the joke was any good. Especially after so many people later got hit so hard by the virus, it now looks like a really bad joke. For that I am very sorry.
But I won't excuse for what other people want to read into it. That would only make sense if those interpretations would be any right, but they are not. And, very much unlike in your example, that's what this topic is all about, is about intentionally misinterpreting my words and actions and then: Give him beans! Or just chiming in, because everybody does so.
Something that is easy to ignore.
Damn, I am truly dissappointed. I thought *you* of all people would be above this, considering what happened in the post I marked above.
Same here. I know its easier to swim with the stream or thinking in black and white, but I really would have thought you wouldn't do so.
At least I would have expected a more balanced criticism from you. Or do you really think, I am the only one in this thread who needs to be criticised?
Looks like the trench is really huge already. And willingly widened even further. :(

Not that my two cents matter or anything, but let me say the following:
1. I am not a member of Atari Age; I have been a member of DP since 7/02, but I don't post as much as other people here.
2. I never knew of any bad blood between AA and DP ever existed until this thread.
3. I do not know Thomas in any way.
4. IMO, his "joke" in the AA thread seemed just like that, a joke. As someone who knew nothing of any bad blood between the 2 sites, I would not have taken it to mean nothing more than as a bad joke or innocent jab.
5. Thomas apologized in the AA thread.
Quite frankly, I don't even know why it was even brought up over here on DP, least of all by someone other than Thomas.

I second Esquire's post. Thomas doesn't seem so bad to me. I probably shouldn't give this thread a bump, but it seems like people are losing out by taking sides in a squabble between two decent people. Let's let them work it out between themselves. I'd rather not alienate people with interesting things to share.
Anyway, I won't post anymore in this thread.
