Ok, I'm packing up my collection gradually as I'm moving at the end of the month.
Was packing genny and sms stuff when I noticed something weird, the plastic overlay is pretty much dissolving. Touch the edge and it cracks and shatters into tiny tiny peices.
Anyone seen this before..... myabe this is because it was really wet once?

I had one SMS game case do that to me. I went to open it, and the clear part cracked down the spine. :/

I think it's just a case of inferior plastic or something happened to it early in it's life.

id guess brittleness due to exposure to the sun. cant guarantee it, but some of the rentals i have that are faded are cracked all over the clear cover.

100% agree, your case must have been exposed to sunlight in its lifetime. I am sorry dude :(

The SMS is cheaply built. Even the solder is sub-standard.

The good thing about that is when you find a defective SMS usually all that is needed in resoldering of the controller ports and cart port. I've never paid for an SMS console they were all "Dead"

I've never heard of SMSes being cheaply built before...

That happened to some of my cases which had stickers on them, most of them cracked right where the sticker used to be. Even Megadrive Cases.

They can't be as bad as some of the later 7800's. What clown put those things together?

I never had a SMS back in the day, even though I was rather impressed by it back then. I've basically been waiting to finish picking up a few things on other systems for a long time. Any suggestions on which version to buy, from where, best place to get games and so on? I already have an idea of what games to buy, I think I should be OK with that for a while at least.

Hmm, I've always kind of had a fear of this as my two shelves are right exposed to a nearby window. Guess I'll have to continue keeping it very dimly open.
