What would it be? How would it play, what things from other games would you "borrow" to make it good?

Mine would be viewtiful joe, streetfighter 2 and donkey konga all rolled into one mad game.

With a combination of claps and drum beats executing a slow mo dragon punch 8-) .

Any Ideas?

My game would be called "Retro Shot". It would start out as a 2600 shooter, kinda like Space Invaders. As you progressed in the game, the levels would resemble a Colecovision shooter, an NES shooter, Genesis shooter, PSX shooter, etc. There would be branching paths so that you could go back to the 2600 shooter but with your X-box power ups.

The unlockables would be the best shooters from each system. If you can finish the game on one credit you get Radiant Silvergun. :)

I would make a game just like Ico, trapped in a castle, but this time instead of there being shodow creatures I would make actual creatures like dragons. I would make it online with voice support for co-op play with another person so both people can roam the castle in different areas talking with eachother on how to solve the puzzle....oh god that would be the ultimate game for me :)

But I was just thinking about this the other day. A new RPG!

It is the distant future. Computer technology is considerably advanced, or at least it used to be until a powerful EMP weapon obliterated most of the advanced circuitry available, including the necessary machinery to rebuild said circuitry. The most advanced technology to survive is the more primative chips found inside old, well-shielded game consoles. Before civilization completely collapses, some efforts are made to infuse these older technologies with the remnants of the newer, resulting in the requisite world of mystery, etc.

The many dangers present in this new world include a powerful, enigmatic AI, greatly constrained due to its new existence as a 2D sprite. It seeks to break free (with such holy relics as the Amulet of Extra Texture Memory) and control the world with its Lousy Camera of Death. Its minions live under the constant threat of being Scrolled out of existence.

Facing off against it are four archetypical heroes:
-The guy who bashes his enemies with a mighty Keyboard, which can also be used to spray Flames and other special attacks, provided he has imbibed sufficient quantities of exotic coffee.
-The Warrior Scribe, who wields a giant writing implement and can spray enemies with Red Ink, Exceedingly Boring Prose, and deadly Trochaic Feet.
-The strange woman with ears that are pointed down to the last atom, and who can thus perform deadly headbuts.
-The Summoner, who begins only with the ability to summon various forms of Public Transportation at will, but later gains the ability to conjure up such abstract societal woes as Recessions and Weapons of Mass Destruction.

In conclusion, I desperately need to get out more. And The Redeye's idea was still better.

Ever since I was a young boy, I wanted to make an adventure game in the vein of Zelda that took place in a more modern day setting. I have the technology, I just don't have the skills to code it. :(

I made many prototypes in my day though. One was a DOS text/graphics adventure through a castle. You know, type Up to move through the door in front of you. Left to go through the door on the left, etc.. I even added a super cool computer terminal type thing in it at one point. You had to find the key code first, then get to the terminal and log in to download stuff. It was awesome ImHO. I miss it.

Then my next prototype was the castle in Duke Nukem 3D. The idea was a castle that was converted into a HQ for the enemy. You get to break in and explore. Unfortunately, something happened in the map file and Build wouldn't open it anymore. Weird.

Before this, back in school, I actually drew out a whole map (Tile based) for the Zelda style version which I never made. But I vow to one day make it real.

Super-charged graphics applied to a Streets of Rage/Die Hard Arcade type engine, but a bit more floaty (maybe double-jumping, or bouncing off of walls in there), with swords and super-powers. Setting is a present-day world, detailed such that the world is completely fucking destructible. Toss a guy through a window? It shatters. Slam him into a car? Car's severely dented. Damage engine is detailed enough, such that if you and your buddy want to take time off fighting the bad guys to demolish the place, you can reduce the environment around you into mere air and rubble. In the meanwhile, everything around can be smashed into component pieces, like the poor car in Streets Fighter 2.

One level would take place in a Supermarket. There would likewise be the obligatory duel jumping from Truck-top to Truck-top.

^ make your own 2D games (3D CAN be done...if you're awesome at it) ^

Mario games aren't that hard to make, and you can do whatever you want in 'em 8-).

Huge forums, too, so if you need help with something, there's always help.

Not to mention that it's **free** ;)

Well, I have made games in the past (my 1997 "classic" RPG series Doomsday Dream Legend 1+2 comes to mind - Remake coming soon!), but if I had the skill, I would make a Final Fantasy arcade game that plays like Konami's TMNT series/Golden Axe.

yeh I made a game using gamemaker and it is great for 2d games, 3d is a bit tricky though. Some quality ideas. The game I made u controled it with the mouse and keys, like a fps but it was a top down shooter. sort of like swiv. The mouse was used to control the turret and the keys moved the car.

a MMO game where the entire real world would be represented in game form, and you could do anything, drive any vehicle, interact with anything in any way, etc, etc. whenever you logged on, your character would be in the game, sitting at the same computer at the exact same spot you're in in real life. then your cyber-self could get up and walk around, go outside, drive a car, get a job, buy stuff, steal stuff, whatever. and you could interact with anything, birds, trees, trash, computers, food, anything. to log out, you would have to go back to your computer in-game before anything got saved.

It would be that RPG I programmed for the Commodore-64 years ago, except it would be for the MSX-1.

Then Opcode could put it on a CV cartridge! :D

If I could make any game it would be a kick ass SegaCD 32X RPG that pushed the system to its limit. Which is something we never saw.

If I could make a game... You're damn sure it's going to be a side scroller. And pretty!

I would make a game based off an already successful formula, an insane, segemnted bullet frenzied, vertical shmup, all nice and polished like the ones we get from Psikyo. I love their shmups! It would be quirky like Gunbird 2 only about 3x longer.

I've said this before, but it's an idea worth repeating. An RPG set in the RED DWARF universe.

Just think of all the strange power-ups for Lister, not to mention the cat.

That would be mine, too, but there would have to be a "build-your-own-level" mode which you could take online, too, or else it would be a kind of short-lived online experience.

Completely non-linear time traveling adventure.

Any where, any way, any time.
