This is the first time i ever saw this, a ZIp Disk Drive addon! Obviously it wasnt released but are there any prototypes around? THis would be the ultimate device for Homebrewers!

Anyone got any info on it?

There was also a combination VMU/mp3 player shown off at some point (it made its' way into ODCM, obviously). I still wish some of the canned DC games had made it into production. Gorka Morka looked really cool, as did several other online shooters/hack n' slashes that never saw the light of day.

Yes, like Half-Life!!!
I dont trust the version that's out there, or rather I should say I have no clue if it works right???

With HL, what's not to trust? FPS games are hard to pull off on consoles without the use of two analog sticks. I still think Gorka Morka and some of the other shooter/action online games would have been more interesting than an aging PC port (though it is a great game).

There were 2 more dreamcast addons that never made it. A harddrive and a DVD Drive.

The zip-drive was going to be used to hold more e-mails, that is pretty much it.

Too bad there wasn't enough of them made for us Dreamcast fans to scoop up.

What a waste of potential. So many cool things could be done with that zip drive. Also isn't there a way to hook up a HDD to a DC?

Cool addon, but I don't see anty real purpose... What could it possibly do to enhance *mentioned above* Resident Evil?

Also, 2x USB ports... hmmmm...

Yeah, I remember seeing this somewhere (mag or net) years ago. Reminds me of the Dreamcast Karaoke System I wish I had (so I could let it collect dust).

(thanks vidgame.net!!!)I'd really like to have that. I'd even settle for the cool looking Genesis version.

Talk about mid-90's style. I likes the red LED's.

God, I love how that looks with the Mega drive... Looks like, I dunno, something you would find at a recording studio... Or a C & C MUSIC FACTORY! Yeeeehhhhh!!!

The Zip-Dive was to be used to content downloaded from the internet too it was being made by IOmega (IIRC) it got mentioned in some of the earlier Official DC mags over here in the UK.

The Silver VMU MP3 player was a non-functional one as was the DVD player.

Well .. if anyone really wants a Dreamcast Karaoke unit then I can probably get hold of one (boxed and good condition). Not especially cheap though ....

I'm afraid to know the price.

Well, I guess it depends on how you look at it ... it would be about $150 shipped. I don't know anything about the going rate for one of these, so I couldn't say whether that is good or not. Spose I could have looky on ePay and see if any have been on recently ..

MP3 VMU, DVD DC were just mock up. on the other hand ZIP driver was fully working prototype that never gotten green light.

DreamKore is fairy common in Japan and not that expensive unlike on eBay.
I got my never used box set for 1000 yen - that's like $10! plus shipping that cost way more than the thing itself... :(

Wow, that's very cool! Setup of it reminds me of the 64DD system as well.

It was mostly finished- if you remember Sega really hadn't implimented compression for VMU saves yet (and I think there was something else as well).[/quote]

Even if the Karaoke machine can not be used now I would still like to have one, to make me Dreamcast look fancy...not like it already isn't :/

Does that thing let you play regular CD+G Karaoke CD's? Or did it require special DC-CD's?

SMB

Songs are downloaded into the karaoke machine and you are charged for each song. Karaoke discs cannot be used or any other discs.
