Last week I discovered that there are absolutely NO DREAMCAST GAMES OR SYSTEMS in my area

I went to the local mall and every game store within 100 miles of where I live and there a NO DREAMCAST games to be found I couldnt locate ANY DC systems either.
Some of the gamestores still had almost-new saturn units and are still selling old Nintendo NES systems and games but NO Dreamcast or games for it?
I talked to the manager at my local Gamestop and he said that he hadnt seen any DC games for a loong time even before they stopped carrying them he also said that he had a DC and also had trouble finding games for it in the surrounding area.

I was wondering if this was happening anywhere else?
What gets me is that this time last year there were 2 stores that still had a decent used DC games section and one had at least 3 Dreamcasts in stock most of the time :hmm:

Also at the store that still sells and trades everything from 8-bit up 2 of the clerks told me that ppl still come in looking for Dreamcast games but nobody ever sells or trades them even though they still give store credit for both DC games and systems.

I haven't found any in my area, either. The only game stores in my area are EB and Gametop. The EB has some NES carts, and both have a few PS1 and N64 titles, but there are no other older games to be found. If anyone knows of a good store in the Durham/Chapel Hill/Raleigh area, let me know.

Your area and mine have a lot in common.

Have you tried independent game stores? I consider Gamestop and EB and the like practically useless for buying games.

I think Dreamcast may be entering that "middle age" of gaming systems ... too new to be retro but too old for the kids to still own. For a few years N64 games were tough to find. Hell, at most of the places I go to they're still $6-$8 for loose games.

When the next generation of games come out, people will start getting rid of their older systems. I think then we'll see a lot of DC stuff showing up.

Also keep in mind that the Dreamcast had a relatively short run in the videogame world, and was the smallest selling "current gen" system (if you classify it as such). That may affect the number of games on the market as well.

My local GameStop still has a small number of NES and SNES games kicking around, but I think all the DC games are long gone.

However, when I was vacationing in Washington state last summer, there was this one rental store that had tons of sealed DC games they were trying to get rid of. Just sports crap and tons of Space Channel 5 and such, though. I even bought a DC game at Circuit City that summer during the big sale (Phantasy Star Online).

My local pawn shop has a few systems left for sale. I think they're something like $60 a pop, though.

I just bought my DC....
29.99 from the music recyclery. I probably could have gotten a better deal, but I just couldn't wait :-P

The only place I can get systems/games at my area is GameCrazy now, I recently got another DC deck so my perfect condition system can rest. As for games, I'd still prefer getting new games online, most used games I see are pretty scratched up

Theres planty here in AZ, EB and Stop dont really carry the system any more. But a lot of pawn and small game stores do.

Locally owned shops, fleas and pawns are probably your best bet right now. The gaming world does not revolve on the EB/Gamestop axis, so try and broaden your horizons a bit.

Having said that, Flack mentioned a certain approaching lull in availability and that's probably a factor as well. Then again, there just seem to be some regions where certain game systems simply never caught on. Perhaps you're in a DC limbo. Good thing we've got a WWW, eh?
