I'm going to have to go with Sudeki for XBOX.
I fail to understand why most people didn't even give this one a chance. Fantastic art direction. Decent voice acting. Passable story. Cool characters. Believable world with great attention to detail. Excellent combat engine. Great running time (short for some, but 15 is perfect for me).
Anyone else feeling them some Sudeki?

Great voice actring?? Ha! Anyway, I thought it was decent. Loved the battle system, but your AI characters were far too stupid for their own good. I lost interest halfway through.
Anyway, I'm going with Onimusha 3 and Samurai Shodown V. Why? Both are underappreciated to the extreme. I didn't see them on any best of lists anywhere and that's criminal.

Blood Will Tell.
Extremely fun combat, clever plot device powering the gameplay, very good story. But it was based on an obscure manga from quite a while ago, so nobody this side of the ocean really cared. Sad.
Btw, I lost interest in Sudeki after about 15 minutes with the demo hehe.

Heh. I said "decent", not "great". :)

Feel the Magic XY/XX doesn't get nearly enough credit.

Maximo vs. Army of Zin
One of the best games I played last year that didn't get any mention that I know of.

Blood will tell rocks sooo much. Really hard though...It's a shame it sold so poorly...I heard it only sold like 4000 copies!
Anyway, my vote goes to Shadow Hearts Covenant. It's quite possibly the greatest RPG to come out since the SNES days. Go buy this game now, you'll never regret it.

Well then, I'm glad to see the Retrogaming Roundtable is finally over its Katamari fetish
Anyways, probably Four Swords Adventures. Yes... I know it got good reviews, but it was pretty overlooked. It was the most innovative videogame since... *the last one...* And some of the BEST multiplayer ever! ...Shadow Battle is like Bomberman on Crack!

Never even heard of it, just looked it up. Might have to get my hands on it sometime soon.

Still can't deny the fact that it's an excellent game with a fantastic soundtrack and intensely original premise.
Anyways, katamari was absolutely not underrated. That'd be akin to saying FFVII was underrated.

Very True... but it was overlooked. At least until the *fine young* individuals at this, and many other sites, preached of the golden nectar flowing from their Television Screens.

After seeing it at E3, I heard a pretty constant buzz about it leading up to it's release, but I guess that's just me :/
Another vote here for Onimusha 3 great game. Reno kicks some serious ass.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant
I think it just kinda got lost in a sea of releases. More people need to check out the Shadow Hearts games, very damn good alternative rpg for your ps2. I'll throw in one more for Onimusha 3, I just didn't feel it sold as well as the others unfortuneately. I think it was another that just kinda got shoved in under the radar.

I'll agree on Sudeki.
One thing though, WHY did the main guy and the blue haired chick fall in love? because they have to because it's fantasy or some crap? I must have missed the cinematic where he goes all romeo on her or something.
Otherwise, yes, pretty damn cool game that more people should check out.
ChoroQ, published by Atlus. While the adventure part doesn't match Road Trip (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54840) with it's huge open ended world it's still a very fun game. It certanly deserves more than the 2.0 score it got form IGN for example.

Actually, I believe Play magazine had it in the running for Game of the Year

well the American release was in Dec. 2003, but the Euro community got it in 2004... So, my vote...

I'm gonna say Firefighter F.D. 18 for PS2 because it was such a unique idea for a game and executed very well. It's one of the best PS2 games I've played in a while and everything about it is just totally fun. I don't think this game ever got the credit it deserves but people are finally starting to notice it judging by the insane prices it's fetching on Ebay lately.

I agree with you Norkusa. I thought Firefighter F.D. 18 was a very innovative and underrated game. I don't get it when publications like Game Informer choose to give such games low ratings (i believe they gave it a 6.5). Actually, I think part of that stems from the fact that these gamers expect Halo 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas sized blockbusters, which is really asking for too much from all games obviously. The Firefighter game was really well made, albiet a niche game, that I believe was totally underrated in 2004.

I'm gonna have to mention Onimusha 3 yet again. Heck of a lotta fun, and really, with a magic frenchman, how can you go wrong?
I'm angry at it, though. Between it and MGS2, which I had just played before it, I had a hell of a time finding anything else nearly as good to play. Action games are too damn short!

Well, I was playing it back in 2003 and maybe it's not as underrated as other titles in this topic, but I don't think Baten Kaitos got the kind of response it deserved. All the reviews I saw/read sucked: "There's too much reading; it's just an ordinary RPG; the battle system sucks!" The thing that really irks me is when reviewers suggest that there's nothing that hasn't been seen in it; what the hell, the whole freakin' game is extremely innovative! o_o These people just aren't putting in the effort to actually figure out the battle system. If they did, they'd realize how unusual and interesting it actually is.
I know that the "critics" didn't agree with this one, but I felt that The Lord Of The Rings The Third Age was magnificent.
I just bought another XboX and "instantly large XboX game library" last week. Among the many titles that I bought was Sudeki. From what I've seen so far...wow!!! (I decided to play Fable first)
I had an XboX at launch but got rid of it because I was so sick of the delays of Fable, Sudeki and Ninja Gaiden. I grabbed all 3 of those games and am happy to say that the extended wait was worth it.
