OK guys and gals, please help me out with this! As most of you know, I've never even played Chrono Trigger before, and I've been wanting to get it for a long time. Normally I only collect sealed SNES games, but the $500+ ebay price for a truly sealed Chrono Trigger is way too prohibitive, especially just to open it and play it. So this one looks like it may be the answer to my prayers. But I have no idea how much I should bid on it! How much does an ultra-mint complete copy of this game usually go for on ebay? I'd really like to bid on this one, if I can afford to, but I dunno about how much I should try to snipe it for! I probably can't afford it, because it'll probably go nuts on me. But perhaps if it gets a little too expensive for me right now, someone else from here might be willing to take a shot at it for me, so I could buy it from you later? I really dunno what this one might go for, but I want it very badly!

Minty fresh.....I personally wouldn't go any higher than $110-160 depending on what you are comfortable with. Though I have a sneaking suspicion this will go close to $200ish.

I think if the seller had added more pics (maps, etc, etc), then he would get alot more than say $100, but i guess we'll see what happens at the end of the auction? ;)

Complete copies generally go for 100-130, but, in this condition, somewhere around $150 is pretty reasonable. It could edge close to 200, but the poor description and picture make that unlikely.

My advice? Find a high quality complete copy with lots of big, nice pictures; it's pretty easy to find a by-it-now for a near mint copy for around $100.

Well, it is not a sealed game, as per the following excerpt from the description:

"I opened each game to see if they were legit. They've never been played, and the plastic wrapper cis just barely opened."

And thus is NOT truly factory sealed. If it WAS really and truly sealed, I'd see some wack-job paying $500++ for it, but in this case, I'd guess no more than $200.

So, contrarily, this most likely IS in your reach, the only question is whether or not you're ok with it's un-sealed-ness.

Personally I don't stress sealed games. Complete is good, but I'd only ever possess sealed games to resell them.

I guess this will go for ALOT. I once saw a factory sealed FF3 go for over $800 on Ebay! But some months later it "only" went for alittle over $200.

Oops.. I didnt see that he opened it to see if its legit. There he lost maybe 200-300 dollars.

So why not simply buy a seale one, but also buy the PSone verson and play that one instead?

Or, do what many collectors do, and buy the game sealed, and play a <Ahem> *Rom* of the game?

I know it's not quite the same as playing the original game on it's native system, but it is a worthy compromise I would say.

It's what I do with many of my games - I buy sealed ones to keep in immacculate condition, and either borrow the same game from a mate, or maybe buy a second one to play (Maybe a more common Greatest Hits version if possible or something similar)

CRAP. I was hoping that about $50 tops would cover it. And I can't really even afford that much right now. Oh well. This damn game is way too overhyped and overpriced. I'll probably never get a copy that I'm happy with. I was thinking that if this guy really did just open it to check it out (for some bizarre unknown reason of an ignorant insane desire to cheat himself out of $100's) then it would be good enough for me to pretend that I got it factory sealed and finally have a brand new 100% minty fresh copy of it. But no way can I afford to pay $100 for it, nor would I ever pay that much for it, even if I could afford it. I'm not paying that kind of money for any unsealed game, unless I'm actually there to witness it's unsealing. Screw that. If it's gonna go for $100, I'd rather get something else that really is sealed. But I'll keep my eyes on it. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll stay cheap, since he doesn't have any pics of the contents or even any other views of the box. That box does look like it just came out of the wrapper though. However, the bigger question is, where the hell did he get a sealed Chrono Trigger in a lot of 8 other sealed games cheap enough that he's willing and obviously stupid enough to open it and sell it for a $10 opening bid with no reserve? This seller clearly knows absolutely nothing about what he's selling!

That is, if any of what he says is even believable. Another reason why I'm thinking that it might stay cheap is because it wreaks of a potential scam. Which is why there's no way that I would bid $100 for it. I really can't even afford to bid on it at all right now, unless I can sell something before this auction ends, so that's why I was asking if anyone else here might be willing to pick it up for me to purchase later. But I also thought that I'd go ahead and post this here for everyone else's information. Both as a warning that I might be bidding on it, and as a friendly gesture for anyone else who might be looking for an ultra mint complete copy of it. It will be interesting to see how much it goes for. Especially if one of us from here wins it and can give a report on it's condition when it arrives. I want to believe the seller's story, but I really can't imagine how he could get that game factory seald for dirt cheap and then be stupid enough to open it "just to verify it's authenticity" before selling it on ebay! Are there really still some sellers out there who are that clueless? And if so, then why the hell can't I find one in the physical world? Why can't I run across a factory seald Chrono Trigger in the wild for like $20? It really pisses me off. If I had known what a freakin' LEGEND this game would become, I would've listened to my friend who tried to convince me that I should buy it when I could still get it factory sealed in any store in America for about $75! And I can't get Chrono Cross until I have this game!

Where can I find the PSX version? I thought they only made the sequel for PSX! I was looking at Chrono Cross just the other day. Does it have Chrono Trigger on the disc too? If it does, then I'll definitely just get that instead! But otherwise, I don't know where to get the original game for the PSX.

Chrono Trigger is also on Final Fantasy Chronicle for the PSX. If your looking for a brand new copy to play then that probably be the cheapest way.

He says the game is sealed, but in the description he says its opened, missleading :(

Good luck getting this one cheap. Even though the picture isn't the best, and the seller is kinda sketchy, that box looks perfect! I have a feeling it will go for at least $150. It is going to be really hard for you to find rare RPG's for any less than $100, considering how important condition is to you.
Good luck though! :)

I had a dream last night that I bid really high on this and won it, just to piss off Iron Draggon. LOL

I'm not kidding, I really did have that dream last night. :hmm:

LOL Well I'll live. It's not THAT important to me. And it's already gone over what I was willing to pay for it anyway. So whoever wants it now, have at it.

There's no way anyone will ever score a sealed copy of Chrono Trigger for $50 unless they throw a killer BJ into the bargain.....
