I've had a GBA for years and now have an SP. Would someone help me out here as I have a couple of questions:

First, can you link the two (the GBA and the SP) and what is the benefit of linking? Do some games have a head-to-head mode? (I mainly play puzzle games.) If you do link, do you need two cartridges to play that way?

Second, what is an e-reader? Does it work on the SP?

Thanks in advance for the help. As you can tell, thus far, I've done little more than stick a cartridge in and play alone.... ;)

Bennefits of Linking... Trading Data / Characters / items, Vs. Play, Co-Op Play. GBA can do up to 4 people, and GBA SP can do 5 I believe with the Wireless Adapter and suported games (maybe more) Some games allow you to play with only one game per Link. They are usually limited on options though, and are esilly interupted.

The E-Reader is a device that allows you to scan specially designed cards with "dot codes". Some cards contain fun mini games, some uploadable data in to other games, others may contain full NES or Game and Watch games. A lot of the E-Reader cards are Pokemon related too. One of the best games to make use of the E-Reader was Animal Crossing for the GameCube on which you could upload songs, furniture (I think...), and special NES games. It does work with the SP though I'm not sure if you can use the Link cable / GCN cable as it doesn't plug in to the GBASP Ext. Port.

The e-reader does work with the SP, though if you did link, you would have to plug the cable in dirently through the gameboy, since the port on the ereader itself is nothing more than a passthrough.

Also, if you did use an eReader on the SP, you have to be careful not to slam shut the flap!!! Lol. I found out the hard way!!!

The reason being - Because the extention (For the GameCube link port) sticks out just underneath the Select button, making it quite hard to use that particular button...

It is also a little more difficult to scan the cards as the whole unit is actually upside down, so you have to either twist the SP, or learn to do it backwards!

I actually find it easier to use on the SP as the weight distribution is easier on your hands and wrists (As you are holding it further up rather than having it top-heavy)
