If want want to spend the most hours, I'd say Star Ocean 2 because I believe that is the longest out of all of them. Dragon Slayer is a short, yet sort of long game (if that makes sense) and pretty fun all the way through, especially if you like Falcom games. Secret of Mana is one of, if not, my favorite SNES game and definitley enjoyable. I have been thinking about playing through that game myself. So I'm not too sure, but I'd just say Secret of Mana for now.

I'm a action-RPG fan myself, especially platform ones.

Then Popful Mail would be ideal.

I've played Popful Mail for PC-88, PC Engine, Sega CD, and Super Famicom (still haven't played the PC-98 version), and since I love Falcom games, I do enjoy Popful Mail. However, I wouldn't say Popful Mail is ideal for action-RPGs. I prefer action-RPGs to have more RPG elements in them, like Ys, Secret of Mana, and Zelda II.

Secret of Mana! It's a classic. Very fun.
I'm going to echo Keranu and warn you that if you play Star Ocean 2, though a good game with a pretty rigid difficulty, will not be beaten any time in the near future. Damn things so long I actually just kind of gave up on it, and a friend's little brother drove himself half-insane leveling his characters up to like 130+ or something to beat the last boss. HE NEVER DID. *ominous music*

not Earthbound Zero...i can honestly NOT recommend it. Its gotten to the point for me where im only finishing it to say that, yes i have finished that game....if you like good storys, stay away.
I'd fire up Secret Of Mana or Dragon Warrior 3.
If you own an XboX or are thinking of buying one, I highly recommend Fable (which I'm playing after waiting so long to do so) and Sudeki. They're sort of RPG/adventure games....but phenomenal.
