playing Mega CD's on a U.S. Sega CD, what do you need?

I tried a search on this and I didn't come up with anything.


What does one need to be able to play Mega CD's on a U.S. Sega CD?

Here are some quick and dirty answers:

You can install a BIOS mod on your system. I believe Dean Dragoli (http://www.multimods.com/) will eventually offer this mod.

You can rip the game, change the region information, then re-burn it. There are guides floating around on how to do this with specific games.

I believe the Datel CDX Cartridge circumvents the lockout, however it supposedly is finicky with what BIOS version it works with.

You need to change the BIOS, install a multi-bios chip, or as previously stated, obtain a cartridge-based solution like the Pro-CDX.
