SO i go to EB with a buddy of mine and we are both pumped up to preorder our psps....wellllll now we are being forced to buy the 'Gretzky PSP Bundle'...So now instead of it costing 299.99 for the system, its 349.99 and you get Gretzky NHL....

They are saying that the ONLY...ONLYYYYYYYY way to get Gretzky NHL is in this bundle....you will NEVER be able to buy Gretzky NHL off the shelve....this to me sounds totally crazy, you can buy it at ebgames.com right now!

Because of their stupid bundle now i have to decide between Lumines and Metal Gear Aci,d instead of being able to get both like i wanted.

So my question is, are they screwing with us? whats the deal with this bundle? If they are messin with me, then ill trade it in right then and there for 30 bucks.

(all my quoted prices are in canadian prices to sort out any confusion)

Also why the hell do we get Gretzky out of all things? Oh i forgot, all Canadians love Hockey!.... @_@

hmm. i dunno why they would be selling you a Gretzky package out of all things. i thought he stopped doing games....or so a heard a couple of years ago and havent come across his games recently while looking for current gen games. seems a little weird. and why would a hockey game be exclusive? its not like a limited Master Chief bundle with an XBOX or something along those lines. im gonna research this a little and add my findings.

edit: after doing a little searching on the EBgames website, it says that with the package you got, you get to choose:

* One PSP accessory of your choice from a list of several launch accessories ($29.99 -149.99)
* Three games of your choice from the finalized list of launch titles ($39.99-49.99)

thats the only thing that is listed for EB. as for a Gretzky exclusive, nothing on it on EB's site or anything else that i can say is purely factual. but there is a stand alone game for Gretzky

much appreciated, please report back :)...

http://www.gamespot.com/psp/sports/gretzkynhl/index.html as you can see here in the top right corner, it has prices for the game at ebgames.com....

also i wanna know, how come at EB in Canada ALL the games are 59.99 where at ebgames.com some are 39.99 and some or 49.99....some of these prices better get sorted out soon its getting annoying paying extra.

I don't know why anyone would even make a hockey game right now. I can understand back in the fall when they had already developed it, and there was still some hope for at least an abbreviated season, but now? Maybe they think the only way they can get people to buy the game is by bundling it with the system.

As talked about before...most places are making you buy games if you want to get a PSP. Theres a bunch of places making you buy 3 or 4 games just to get the system, so this one isn't all that bad. :/ It's a nice way to bloat the numbers of the 989 games though, considering no one is going to buy them seperately.

i think the main point of this topic has gotten lost...i wanted it find out if Gretsky was in fact a rare game....is this bundle the ONLY way to get it like my EB is telling me?

Screw EB and Gamestop and wait to buy from one of the many, nay majority, of retailers that aren't going to make you buy a bunch of unwanted games with your PSP Value Pack.

Actually, in the B & M Gamestops, there is no forced bundling other than Sonys "Value Pack". You can buy the PSP & all the games, some, or none. It's your choice.

Yeah. After some debate in another thread I confirmed that last week at both EB and Gamestop. There's a misconception among some that the PSP is only available at launch with all that extra bullshit. I'll make my own PSP and Wipeout Pure bundle thank you very much.

Ya know, I really hated the idea of bundling a few years back, but nowadays it's pretty nifty. Imagine me talking with my wonderful, completely-understanding-that-she-has-a-game-geek-for-a-husband wife:

"But honey, they're MAKING me buy four games with the system. I don't really WANT to. But they're MAKING me!" :)

lol. I had a tough time when I first looked at the list, but then I settled on these four for the following reasons:

Dynasty Warriors - Never owned it. Played a demo once and liked it, but just never got it for some reason. Also, heard that they've designed the game to be played in short chunks. Amen to that!

Wipeout Pure - Mainly nostalgia for '95. But I really had a good time with STUN Runner on the old Lynx, so this should be similar. Again, short chunks of playtime.

NFL Street - Always wanted it, but couldn't fathom buying an arcade football game. But it seems perfect for a portable unit.

Need for Speed Underground - Another series that I always wanted to try, but never purchased. Plus, you can't go wrong with a racer on a portable. And again...short play chunks.

For some reason, I'm getting the feeling that the PSP is going to replace my other current gen systems as my system of choice. Not sure why though... Maybe I'm just imagining that the play time will be more manageable with these games.
