Hi guys, just need some help with the whole wi-fi/online thing for the DS.

Id love to play wireless multiplay/chat against my friend who lives across the road, but I belive its a bit too far away for it to work.

1) Whats the furthest distance you have been able to play wirelessly with another person?

2) Is there anyway to extend the range? Maybe even just by another 50 feet? If so how.

3) Just say I decide to make my own hot spot at home, how far would the wireless range be. Would others still need to be close to my hot spot? if so, how close?

4) If I decide to get broadband (limited space plan)and a wireless router to play online, does playing DS online and using pictochat eat up my MB ISP space?

5) Would a broadband speed of 256/64 be fast enough to play DS online with no lag?

Thanks for your time and look foward to your responses.

I've gotten about 100 feet on occasion. If you are in line of site, with nothing between you, you might get abetter distancess.. In some reported cases as much as 300 feet has been reached.

You can not make a hot spot for the DS... not yet anyway...

No games currently support online play in this way.

See answer above.

Speaking of DS where are the games? lol

Connecting two or more DS systems for multiplay gaming or pictochat all depends on the physical distance between the two systems as well as what, if any, kind of obstacles lie inbetween the two (or more) systems.

Right now, if you want to connect two systems, the range is that I have gotten, without obstacles in the way, that means NOTHING in the way, I think I got at least 100 yards. If you toss a third DS system between the two, then that will increase the range as the DS system acts as a repeater - that's it for the strict wireless multiplayer without the net.

as far as the real WiFi goes, hooking up to wireless hubs and hotspots, NO ONE KNOWS JACK SHIT ABOUT THIS YET. Nintendo has yet to release any information on how the hell this is going to work. So you are waiting for info as am i, as is every other DS owner.

The wait continues.

And Iwata is speaking at some conference this week, so maybe we'll get some info, if not then, then E3 for sure.

Errr... All thats been revealed is the fact that it is going online, nothing else has really been said about it other than a few games Nintendo intends to support with the service- Animal Crossing DS and Mario Kart DS.
