How often does Goodwill put out items? Is it like some pawns where they have to hold it for a month before it can be put out on the floor to be sold?

I am sure they are all different, but I believe most of them restock every day.

Why would they have to hold it for a while before selling it?

the simple way to find out is to donate something, and then see when it shows up on the showroom floor.

p.s.- i've done this. turn around is almost immediate. my couch was up for sale the next morning. i guess it only depends on how fast the staff can sort through stuff. if your goodwill is crazy busy then maybe things won't get processed for four days.

best to donate something large and see when it gets put up for sale.

I think that goodwill.com has a store locator.

EDIT: Whoopsie. Make that goodwill.org.

yellowpages.com

Put in your city/state

Under name put "thrift". Repeat for "Goodwill" and/or "Salvation Army" as needed.

My Goodwill restocks twice a day, if you can believe it.

There are two sections to the store: The main retail floor and something called the "Clearance Corner" (CC). The CC is the place where the better part of the electronics, including computers and videogames, get dumped. This is where the flea marketers, pickers and Ebay pimps all congregate. So the main store is open for regular business hours. The CC is open from 1000-1300, and then 1500-1700. During that two hour interim they restock a second time as the morning rush always dilapidates the inventory. At both opening times there's always a queue of at least 50 people clamoring to get through the door first. It's a total dog eat dog scene, and I'm almost embarrased to say I've been going there nearly ten years now....almost embarrased.

No need to be embarrassed. If I had something cool like that at any of the Goodwills in Omaha, I would be there everyday
