I was in a Microplay the other day and they had Resident Evil 2 and 3 for Gamecube for $30 new and $20 used but on eBay I saw a Dutch auction with both games new in it going for $190. What’s up with that? Are they really that rare to find in most stores now? Here's a similar auction

Yeah man they're pretty rare. Ive never seen them in the wild myself. I don't see why people want RE:2 and RE:3 for GC when they are perfect ports of PSX games.

Go buy those now!
Those are amazing prices for those new. Just get'em for the resale value.

I'm hoping that with the popularity of RE4, Capcom might be coaxed into re-releasing these. It's a rather unusual choice to just port over from an inferior system, but the idea is to put all the RE's on the same system. I'd love to get my hands on these...I just hope the prices don't get any worse than they already are.

Agreed. I'd buy em if they were all $20. I picked up RE:0 and RE because I got both of them for less that $20. RE:4 was worth the $50 IHMO, but RE2 and RE3 arent because I already have them for other systems. If they were $20 each though, then I would buy them just to see them all lined up on my shelf.

I would expect the price to drop fairly soon. Although I also thought that the prices for the earlier Suikoden games would've lowered by now so don't listen to me.

I believe the reason is that these games for PSX and N64 (and DC and PS2for CV:X) is that they were screamingly popular and you can find a zillion copies of the original releases - well = EVERYWHERE. So, when the GC versions came out (smaller print run? Dunno.), everyone pretty much had these games in their collections already. Or it was still early in the GC lifespan, so folks wanted the new Mario/Metroid stuff - not "prettied-up" versions of games that had been out for years.
Now that the collectibility has skyrocketed - or the completists have caught on - those games will be harder to find.

blame it on the AWESOME Resident Evil 4. After seeing this game, I guess most folks are now trying to play the previous titles and demand suddenly skyrocketed. I just saw RE2 going for 60+ dollars on Ebay while Resident Evil 4 was going for 29 bucks! WOW!
I don't see myself getting the GC versions when I own all of them for the PS1 and Code Veronica on the Dreamcast.

I can see how RE4 made the prices skyrocket, that game rocks, not terribly scary just feverishly intense. I have RE for the cube and am having a hard time getting into it though, for one it really scares the heck out of me for some reason, and I don't like the controll scheme much, someone tell me will I learn to like it or is it a love hate relationship?

I can't say I learned to like it - I doubt anyone really LIKES it. It's the way it is because of the camera style they chose, sacrificing control for drama.
If you play it enough you'll get used to it though. Not "like", just "tolerate" :)
Personally I liked the controll sceme. Granted it has aged poorly, but you get used to it in a hurry. Give your self an hour with any RE 0-Veronica, and you'll be set to play em all with little problem.
Recently I found RE 3 (GCN) for 15 dollars complete. Was thinking of selling it, but I'd rather have it since its such a bitch to find in the first place. As a matter of fact its not all that easy to find ANY of the REs for any system around here.
It appears the T virus is spreading. :wink 2:

RE2/3/CV prices were up way before RE4 was released. Maybe interest in the game sparked it. Or the films. Or people realising they were hard to find.
Needless to say, they were high long before the start of the year...
