Wow... Those are the launch titles?
That's pretty weak, IMO.
I'd go for Darkstalkers.
If it was sold out, either MGA or Lumines.

Yeah crappy lineup.
I'd pick Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower.
If that was sold out I wouldn't buy a damn thing.
Y's would be second but knowing the way the PS2 version sold it will probably get canceled.

Most likely Ac!d, because I am a fan of the Metal Gear Games and MGA looked intreresting.
Ape Escape, it would be fun to catch monkeys on the go.

Crappy lineup? Compare the PSP launch to any other popular system launch. I'd say PSP is having one of the most respectable launches in recent memory. Ridge Racers, MGA, Lumines, so many genres are represented.
I mean, the PSP will have more games at launch than the DS could come up with in 4 months.
Anyway, I'd say Metal Gear Acid.

The difference?
Quality vs Quantity.

Didn't we start a forum to escape this stuff?
If I wanted to play N64 games, I'd bust out my N64. Not a single compelling DS title is out yet. Solid tried and true titles are better than few mediocre titles and a couple of good ones.

Well, don't start that stuff.
The N64 isn't exactly a very portable machine, is it?
The DS is.
You could also say the same about the GBA.
If I wanted to play SNES games, I'd bust out my SNES.

Yes, crappy. There is nothing new or innovative there. It's more of the same, but in portable form. Too many sports games, too.
Originally I would have said Metal Gear Acid, until I found out tat it's card-based. At this point I'd be getting Hot Shots Golf. Or maybe Dark Stalkers.

Lumines.
Followed closely by Untold Legends.
And if I wanted to play my PS2 games I'll bust out my PStwo.
Is there any game on that list that is not a sequal to another playstation game?

MGA with out a doubt. I fucking hate card battle games, but to be honest it intrigues me.

I thought Mercury was going to be a launch title?
Other than that... Maybe Metal Gear Acid... After I find out what in the world the "card battle" is all about.

MGA has been getting largely panned from just about everyone who's played it. It was a gimmick that played out like a gimmick from what I've heard, just to get a big name on the system at launch.
Final judgement still definitely reserved for playing myself, but I've grown to trust a large part of the gaming media. Rating games is far more objective to me than say movies or music. Except when it comes to contrived turnbased Jap RPGs, then I'm buying it regardless how poorly it does (suikoden IV and Xenosaga II :( :( )

Why is Tiger Woods always in the mix nowadays? It is one of the only DS launch titles ALWAYS stocked anywhere I go :)

dunno who you are talking to, or what crack they are smoking, but all MGA's reviews have been very good, and many editors who bought and played the crap out of the Jap release, are buying it AGAIN just to see what the characters are saying throughout the game, its THAT good...im not personally saying that its good, i havent played it, and i never pass judgement on a game before i play it...all i know is that im pickin it up at lauch because i dont think it will disappoint...also unlike the Jap release, we get multiplayer :)
Ridge Racer.......no doubt about it!! After owning and being disappointed by Gran Turismo 4, I sure as hell won't be buying it for my PSP.

THUG 2 Remix. I love the Tony Hawk games, but can't stand the GBA versions (ugh, isometric POV!). And since gaming-on-the-go gets more of my time than console gaming (due to my long daily commute in public transportation), it'd be ideal for me.
I can only suppose that, just like its console big brother, it will include a "classic" mode (ie. THPS revisited)...

Please tell me you're joking. A port of an old N64 game is better than new titles. A piss poor port of a terrible Ridge Racer game not even developed by Namco is better than an all new one? I mean, the DS lineup is mostly complete crap right now. I can't even believe you would use "Quality vs. Quantity" to justify that.
For the record, I have a DS with SM64. It's an ok idea, but once again Nintendo has managed to not provide games for their system. And I'm sick of goddamn Mario ports.

If I had to pick one it would be THUG 2 because I never got the console version.
But the games I plan on getting are...
THUG 2
Darkstalkers
Lumines
Mercury
Ridge Racer
Ape Escape
I think the lineup is incredibly impressive, there ARE too many sports games, but there gonna sell to those who want them. The wide array of games is awesome. Anyone that's read my posts in PSP related threads lately knows I'm overhyped about this system.
I'm just not understanding how someone could not like the PSP's lineup or the DS'es lineup, I guess we all have different tastes, but to me there's something for everyone.
The DS and the PSP have really changed my "anti-handheld" perspective.

Quantity:
PSP already will have more games Than the DS which has been out for months...PSP is the clear winner
Quality:
Ridge Racer DS vs Ridge Racer for PSP....no one can argue the PSP version looks amazing and is shaping up to be so much better.
MGAcid vs Mario....MGAcid is a whole new game with a whole new concept...Mario is just a port, with a few added bits
PSP will be online AT LAUNCH with FIVE games...i think thats more games than DS had at launch, never mind Online lol
i could honestly go on and on but im pretty sure its safe to say PSP is kicking Nintendo ass and its not even out yet...Yes the DS is innovative and its going to have some more great games....sometime in the future...but PSP is already full of awesome games and that wont be stopping anytime soon...Id like to see someone argue for the DS on this one. Im the biggest Nintendo fan I know but you gotta face the facts
another one for fun:
Spider-Man 2 for DS vs Spider-Man 2 for PSP...well the PSP one isnt out yet, but from vidoes and pics you can see its a full 3d Spidey adventure action game...vs well, the DS version :P

Spider-man 2
I already have hot shots golf, ridge racers, and lumines. It won't be my first psp game, but my first north american game, followed by metal gear acid, since it seems spidey 2 comes out this week, with MGA coming out with the launch of the psp next week.
