Dream about thrifting?

Wow, I must really be a dork.

I had a dream about thrifting last night. I found a turbo duo and a ton of 32X games I'd never even heard of (probably because it was a dream and they don't exist).

This ever happen to anyone else?

You know what, don't feel bad. I have the "ultimate find" dream usually around once a week. I've had it so many times and in so many permutations I can't even count anymore. And I always find wierd stuff that usually doesn't really exist (one time I found a U.S. Sweet Home for the NES).

I chalk it up to the fact that I'm severely socially deprived right now because of school, and my brain and body are just craving to stop working, leave the house, and shop around. Since I usually can't do that right now for a variety of reasons, I guess the different levels of my ego deal with that conflict while I'm asleep.

What's your excuse? LOL

i had a dream that i found a 3DO in my community trash area. it was so awesome. then i got jumped on by my cat and flung him across the room out of being spooked. stupid cat ruining my dreams.

I have had a few dreams where i get huge lots of amazing games i have never heard of.
The strangest dream was one where i found a huge bunch of Game Gear games and system the only game i remembered when i woke up was Knuckles Chaotix so i checked to see if it was real and it was. I had never heard of the game till that dream so it was pretty strange.

But it use to happen to me all the time. Hasn't happened in a while.

Yep. Usually I'm either at some weird flea market, or I'm at some old store. They always have all these really cool games that I never heard of before, and all the games that I've been trying to find forever, all factory sealed. So I always buy as many as I can afford, but when I try to find the place again so I can go back after I have more money, it's never there anymore. That's why I started stealing all the ones that I can't afford when that happens. Then I wake up and it's like DAMMIT! It happened again! If I could just find a way to pull all my loot out of my dreams with me, then I'd be set! SIGH...

i too have this dream....

i'll find something unique or rare that i alerady have, usually in a thrift store, and i think "cha-ching! eBay time!" the scariest thing is that my weekly finances will actually enter into the dream, and i figure out how much i'll be making from selling said item(s) on eBay. i think i have problems.

I think I've had similar dreams a couple of times...finding lots of rare VCS and NES games + protos. Sucked when I woke up! LOL

When I first started going to the thrift stores and flea markets, I would have this dream a couple of times a week. Now I don't have it anymore, which is good. Ever time I would wake up from one of those dreams, it would be like "DAMNIT!!"

Ahhh the thrift dream.
I too am tortured by melevolent dreams that only piss me off when I wake up! I thought I was the only one.
I have these dreams where I go into a store/yard sale and they have huge amounts of games and systems, and all of it is so cheap that I take it all.
Or I find a bunch of Vectrex games and accessories :texaschain:
I wake up pretty much as soon as I get the people to part with it, or in the case of the vectrex dreams, they tell me to get lost because I dont have any money. x_x

I had a dream not too long ago that I went back in time with my time machine and bought tons of sealed NES and SNES games for next to nothing. LOL

I had a dream just last night about finding Stadium Events for NES at a flea for $1, plus it came with a free Game Genie. As I was leaving I noticed someone following out of the corner of my eye. Eventually they caught up in the parking lot and pulled out a huge knife and said "Give me that game or I'll kill you" For some reason I did, and they ran off with the cart. Woke up before I could chase them down D:<

I call this type of dream the "Treasure Trip" i.e. - tripping or stumbling or otherwise accidentally finding something of immense personal value. Based on this thread it's not an uncommon experience. There's got to be some sort of Jungian significance to the concept :?

Used to be I had the Treasue Trip dream about being in the music store and finding the hitherto "lost" album from one of my favorite bands, usually Rush or Tangerine Dream. Nowadays it's being in the Goodwill and finding a medium to large size box of carts for various pre-1985 systems; 40 to 100 third-party weirdly labelled or shaped things. No mintness for me, thank you. Just a big-ass box full of dusty old loose but working carts for $10 or so...sometimes it's a Japanese console that nobody's ever heard of....either way it's a good dream. -_- :D

Oh yeah, count me in. I've had so many that in my dreams I'm aware of the dreams and try to prove to myself that I'm not dreaming. Sometimes it causes me to wake up, but sometimes I believe that I found 3 unreleased Bomb prototypes in cases unlike any I've ever seen or whatever. I do get pissed when I wake up because in the dream I have that thrift score feeling.

Ditto that. My dreams are teasing me and I hate it! I have fits when it happens.. Even when i am dreaming, i have fits that this "Atari grape" system doesn't exist, and that i can't take these games with me. :roll:

I've had a dream like this a few times. Most recent I found some really rare maps to games and a bunch of complete nes games. I went to the counter to pay for them and some really tall guy in a denim jacket grabbed them when I set them on the counter.

I was fighting the guy for the map when I woke up.

Yep. I've had this dream. Only a couple of times though. The better one involved me finding a collection of Hardy Boys books and just about every good SNES RPG ever made.

I told my wife about the dream because we were on our way to the local flea markets the next moring. I got this look O_O

yeah, sometimes I have dreams where I find a NWC cart for 25 cents, or a huge box of rare colecovision games for a buck, or something like that.

The thing is, when I wake up it takes me about a half hour to convince myself that it WAS a dream, and that I DON'T have a NWC cart :(

edit: Still not even 10% as dorky as when I dream I'm playing Civilization III or Heroes of Might and Magic :/

I had this one dream where I was in an airport-turned-game-store (the main terminal was filled with Super Nintendo and SFC games) and I pulled out a loose StarFox 2, with full-color Japanese label art. I was quite disappointed when my cat started poking my face and woke me up... :/

Hell, I should recreate the label, then make a real cart out of an old Yoshi's Island cart or something. I think that's what I'd need, anyway...

90% or so of my dreams are about shopping in some way or another, often times it's going to garage sales, seeing awesome stuff for cheap, and having no money. That, or running from cops in a mall or something weird like that.
