I recommend you get one of the PC Engine Duo's. They'll play nearly every game that's out there for the PCE. HuCards, Arcade CD's Super CD's... the only games a Duo can't run are the SuperGrafx games. But seeing as there are so very few of those, you're not missing out on much there.

They're basically the same, except the original white model only has RF output (unless modded). If you're not looking to play CD games at the moment, you're probably best off with a CoreGrafx (either model). The white ones look cooler though ;)

there were AV adapters for the white pcengine. The japanese equivalent of the Turbo booster plus.
If you ever do plan to play duo games and also want to play us games the
best set up is to get a japanese duo and a US turbografx. Thats what I have hooked up.
And if you want to get pcengine hucards, pcengine Cd/SCDs or TG hus or TG CD/SCD check my list in my sig. I have a couple of hundred extra games for turbo/pcengine listed.

I second that! :D Coolest console design ever. The challenge is to obtain one that has retained it's pristine white casing. Most white PC-Engines have yellowed over time unfortunately.
Note that you can also get a white one and add an AV-booster to get composite-out. They're quite rare, but a number of them have been popping up on eBay recently.
Whichever model you end up getting, you'll love it!

sorry for asking so much...but my finale question is what should i expect to pay for one...im asking just so i dont buy one at an insane price.....its happened before :/ .
p.s. i probly go with white since my dremcast is the only white system surrouned by black ones....it needs a brother. :D

cheapest white one I bought was.... around $35 I think... unboxed and without power supply... did come with rf-cable and joypad.
But be careful though. As I mentioned earlier... a lot of the white ones are looking a bit worse for wear due to the yellowing. Pics on eBay are suspiciously often overexposed conveniently making them look whiter/cleaner than they actually are...

And unless he picks up a turbo booster or mods it, he may run into problems playing on a US tv. Those Jap RF outs are screwy! Better to get the grey coregrafx with AV out, than a RF out Jap system that doesn't work well on a US tv set. Unless he wants a white PCE & is capable of modding, or is gonna spend more money on other attachments.
I'd recommend a DUO thou, save the time, & expense of buying twice, or buying other attachments/mods, & more capable system with addition of the CD media. It can also play the US CD games.

I'd say go for PC Engine Duo-RX if you can afford one.
incidently getting one in Japan will be the cheapest way to get one as I just got PC Engine Duo-RX box set for $169 plus shipping...
on eBay you'd expect over $250-350 for Duo-RX box set...

You'll probably pay about $70 after shipping if your lucky. I just went to that JAPANGAMESTOCK.com and went all the way through the checkout and it (a black COREGRAFX) came to exactly $69.88 after shipping w/full insurance (EMS). That was to my address, but it shouldnt change to much for you! That's a pretty good deal as they are close to $100 on EBAY. Do yourself a favor and buy some loose chip games from him to (that shouldnt change shipping to much). He's got some grat games on that site and I've ordered from him and got good product quickly!
