Hello, and welcome to a new weekly feature here at DP! It's called "Friday Scoreboard", and here's how it goes: Every week I'll choose a different game at random from any console. I'll then post my choice in the Video Gaming forum along with my highest score that I was able to attain. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Get the highest score for the week. Simple, huh?

A few ground rules must be made, however, in the interest of fairness. They are:
- No continues are allowed. Once it's Game Over, it's Game Over. (No save states, either. :P)
- No cheats or codes, of course.
- Always use the default settings only. This gives everyone a level playing field.
- Although not needed, screenshots can help further validate your claim.
- Have fun! :)

This week's game is Arkanoid: Doh It Again. This SNES remake of the arcade game gives it a graphical face-lift (and adds bosses!) while losing none of the charm that made it so popular.

Here's my highest score (so far):

So far my high score is 149xxx ... that's with all the default settings (no changes on speed or number of men).

Is there an alternae way to control the paddle? Was this game mouse compatible or was there a special controller or anything?

I don't think so. I think the only way to control it is through regular controller (though I may be wrong).

Here's a few tips, by the way, that may help anybody trying this out:
- In Level 9, it's really hard to get the ball into the little crevice. So, instead of aiming for that, you should probably aim for the jellyfish teleporters instead.
- Collecting all of one kind of powerup increases your score greatly. For example, collecting only the blue "increase paddle size" (heh) powerup gives you 1000 points for the first, 2000 points for the second, 3000 points for the third, etc. etc.
- Even though those pink "skip level" powerups are helpful at times, you don't get any extra points if you skip a level. So, you're probably best off to finish a level completely to get more points.
