pardon my French here.....

The "Walk Of Game" event on 3/8/05 was.....

FUCKING WEAK!!!

It was totally disorganized and the 'air' was filled with people stumbling around who didn't know what the fuck they were even doing there.

I went with the initial thought that it was going to be pretty cool and that I'd take some photos of the legendary Nolan Bushnell and hopefully Shigeru Miyamoto, but the only person that appeared was Nolan Bushnell, as well as the President of Bungie Entertainment.

They had a live band called Cloud City (or something like that) who performed some decent covers of old video game tunes. A little bit of Mega Man, Ghosts N' Goblins, Super Mario Bros. ..... They weren't bad, but they weren't good either. The interesting part was when they started playing their original material; That was cool, but I wanted to hear more video game covers, not material from a band I've never heard of. IMHO, they were just playing noise. Not music.

If I remember correctly, this is how it went down at the awards ceremony for the 'Walk Of Game Stars'.:

Mario - Some guy in a Mario costume had 2 'eye candy' models at his side while the announcer/MC gave info about the Mario character. The award was accepted by a Nintendo representative. (I don't remember the name of the person)

Sonic - Same as the 'Mario' award presentation, but with a member of the ACTUAL "SONIC TEAM" accepting the award. (I couldn't find out who accepted it)

Halo - The President of Bungie accepted the award.

Link - Surprisingly, no one in a "Link" costume was onhand. The award was accepted by the same Nintendo rep that received the Mario Award.

Nolan Bushnell - He was the mack! He had two models in each arm, was dressed in a nice, dark suit and he wore dark sunglasses.

Shigeru Miyamoto - Again, the same Nintendo rep accepted the award, but surprisingly, this particular 'star' was lifted by none other than the current Mayor of San Francisco; Gavin Newsom.

I started laughing once they asked Mayor Newsom to lift the star for Miyamoto. I mean, what the hell kind of an impact has Mayor Newsom had on the video game community, let alone any involvement with Miyamoto?

I was there probably only about 20-25 minutes before I left. I didn't even take pictures.

Overall, that event was boring. -_-
