I'm not sure I understand why someone would do this.

Here's why I'm bringing this up. I bid $6.99 on a game. BIN was $9.99, 2+ days left. I go back to my inbox a few hours later and the auction has ended - I've won.

Am I mad? Not at all. $6.99 is all I wanted to pay, and this way I'll get it 2 days earlier. But I'm curious as to why he didn't just wait until the auction was over?

Anybody?

Well since he had a BIN of 9.99 on it he probably wasn't expecting to receive more then that. $7.00 is pretty close and probably decided to just get rid of it sooner. Maybe he needed a quick couple of bucks.

Maybe the seller was going out of town and didn't want to make the winning bidder wait till they got back. Maybe the auction was run by Monkeys (who are good people too) and their simian brains don't know how ebay works. Either way, in closing- Monkeys are good, and you got the game at the price you wanted. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

Sometime I feel inclined to end a listing early if the bidder has respectable feedback simply because I am worried some noob will bid and not pay. I've never actually done it, but I've thought about it.

Maybe the game was broken, lost, or didnt exsist.

Doubtful. Although along this line of thinking is the fact that it's a game made in 1998 that was just remade and released this year. Maybe he figured nobody would want the older version.

(i.e. Maybe he's never dealt with a retro-gamer before :) )

Slightly more devious thinking, but if the auction ends early that circumvents the feedback system, no? I think you lose all your PayPal and eBay "protection" (what there is) by buying the item outside the actual auction.

I don't think so, because I think we're still inside the auction. Everything has been just like a regular auction except for the fact that it ended 2 days before it was supposed to.

The seller had a lot of positive feedback so I'm sure he's not out to screw me over for $11.99 US (including shipping). I think he realized it was an item that was gonna be tough to sell, saw I had good feedback, and just ended it
