Wut are the best boating or water sports games, what are all of the games in this genre. Tell us what ones you liked across the board and why. I really like Cobra Triangle and Water Ski, for modern Hydro Thunder rocked. I want to exclude fishing games, but skiing racing surfing swimming etc. Ex: TC surf designs is a good one. What were the best and some of the more obscure good ones?

Hmm.

I always liked Bimini Run on the Genesis. It is just a racing style shooter in a boat but cool in a Miami Vice kinda way :)

Waverace series by Nintendo
Waverunner - a Sega arcade game similar to Waverace.
Aqua Jack - arcade hovercraft shooter from Taito.
Tropical Angel - arcade waterskiing from Irem.
Hydra - arcade boat shooter from Atari Games.
3D Waterski - C64 game by Alligata.

There are two games I know of called Water Ski. I'm guessing you mean the 7800 game but there's also an older Taito arcade game.

Jet Moto 2 on PSX (not strictly a water-based racer, but includes plenty of water tracks). Includes all of the tracks from Jet Moto. Incredibly fun game.

Yeah, gotta agree on the jet moto series, they are a blast to kill some time with. And I was refering to the Atari 7800 version of Water Ski, never heard of the other. That game is great for its nail biting speed and difficulty.

My picks are Wave Race 64, Wave Race: Blue Storm and the Dreamcast version of Hydro Thunder (it's arcade perfect).

If you are a Tony hawk fan Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray is fun. but its T Hawk on a wake board. But we got it for cheap and had fun with it for a while. The 2 player mode has one person wakeboarding and the other driving the boat which while driving has some bad camera angles but it was still fun.

Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer is amazing. It uses the Tony Hawk engine.

There are also a few boat games on the Xbox.

I'd have to recommend Splashdown and Wakeboarding Unleashed. :)

Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild on the PS2 is really fun and shouldn't be too hard to find for around $10 or so.

I've gotta go old-school and nominate the arcade game "Swimmer." I mean, it's very realistic, all that business about diving under logs, coming to the surface to eat grapes and cherries (what the hell was up with the "arcade diet" of the early 80s?), and getting killed by turtles!

Toobin'
California Games (Surfing Event)
Park Patrol (C64)
River Raid (well, you *do* shoot boats ...)

What was the name of that game with the River City Ransom guys, and one of the sports was wrestling in a pool until one of the guys drowned?

A lot of people have said it already but my favorite is Wave Race 64 (N64)

As good as Blue Storm is, for some reason, the Wave Race I keep coming back to play is the 64 version. Blue Storm is technically superior in every way - better graphics, control, physics, more tracks, etc.

But once I finished it, I never went back to it. Where as Wave Race 64 is the one where I'm constantly trying to beat my best time, or get the best stunts.

Anyone else feel this way?

I can smoke through N64 Wave Race with my eyes closed, and have fun doing it. I haven't even managed to finish Blue Storm, and don't have a real burning desire to get back at it.

So yeah...I don't know what the difference is, but it doesn't quite have the same appeal.

O_O Another for WR: 64. Best physics engine ever.

Also, Irem's 1987 classic: SQOON!
