View Full Version : Hidden bonuses in Life Force?

I've searched all over the net and several messageboards but can't find an answer. So far I've found 2 hidden bonuses in Life Force where you get an extra 5000 points.

The first is found in the first stage before the boss. In the last area where you shoot through the gunk and it reforms behind you, shoot your way through the highest area you can. Near the end of the gunk you should hear a sound like an extra life was earned, and 5000 points are added to your score.

The second one I found is in the second stage after you beat the 'blue ball' mini-boss. After the miniboss is defeated you travel on up through one of the tubes to fight the real boss. Choose the left tube and either position yourself just right or have an option with you just to the right of your ship, so it passed through the wall. It should shoot a path through directly next to your own. Stay in this path and you'll hear the extra life noise and another 5000 will be added to your score.

I highly doubt I'm the first to discover these (though I admit that would kick ass), but I have yet to find a list of them online. Any help would be appreciated! :D Heck, even just testing the first level one would prove I'm not crazy LOL btw, even after 3 loops in the game the bonus points remain at 5000 :/

Konami added a lot of those little bonuses to its Gradius/Lifeforce shooters. I remember that sort of thing was common in a lot of Capcom's shooters like 1943. It's a great incentive to keep playing.

A little update. Further google searching found this page: http://www.nintendocc.com/codes/nes/life_force.shtml where extra lives can be found. I tested the second one (basically the opposite position of my 5000 point find) and it checks out. I couldn't figure out where the first one was though, "flying through the web full of blue asteroids"?

What I wouldn't give for a full page dedicated to finding these secrets :D

Quintracker:

Thanks for the secrets. I will be sure to try them out later today.

I myself found a glitch in SMB 3 , that I have never seen online or anywhere else. I can also do it every time, so it's not like it was a once in a life time thing.

In level 8, on the map where the hand sucks you in. Go to the level where there is a fire brother at the very beginning. You then keep going until you come to the 2 hammer brothers on the bricks. Kill them, but keep ALL of the bricks on the bottom row. Then stand on the bottom row and break all of the upper level bricks. The last brick on the right is a coin brick, and it won't break all the way. Then go to the far left, get a running start and hit the brick at the very front of it. If you do it right, you will go right through the wall like the "Minus World" trick.

I am sure someone has done it before, but when I first did it on accident, I was going nuts!!! LOL

I've found a bunch of these Life Force bonuses myself. Maybe I'll take the time and list them all somewhere one of these days.

Once I get some time to play through the game a few times and write them all down, I will.
