Ok, I went on a cheese kick this month and bought both Night Trap for the Sega CD and 3DO (I actually DID own both of these at one point so I just wanted them back). Now, there have been 5 versions of the game.."Red-Box original SCD", "Blue-Box censored SCD" 32X, 3DO and PC. I have played the red-box SCD and 3DO (obviously since I own em), seen the 32X version, and seen screenshots of the blue-box and PC version and it seems that the 3DO version technically looks the best. The video window actually goes all the way to the edges of the screen, unlike the 32X and, from what I've seen, the PC version. My main questions are regarding the differences. Some say the 32X, 3DO and PC versions are based on the "censored" SCD version and don't have the infamous molestation scene (I'm still not 100% sure where the hell this scene is in the game!). I played both my versions for the SCD and 3DO and cant find any differences! One thing I DO know thats different is the opening speech from your commander, as the SCD had him holding a Genesis controller and the video for the 32X, 3DO and PC version he has some standard remote. Some say this was re-recorded for those versions...some say thats the original footage and the SCD one was the newly recorded one. Another point is some say the PC version had put back in some lost footage they found, yet I never hear any place mention this (except on a "word-of-mouth" kind of thing). I DO know it had an extra "making of" video for the PC, but thats all. Anyone have any definitive info. on these differences that they've seen themselves. Is this topic necessary? Hmmm..no. Annoying me till I find out the answers? Yes....

Yeah, those pics appear to actually be from the 32X version. The PC version actually looks the same, whereas the 3DO version's video window was larger.
Heard about the topless shot too, but no one in 12 years has ever found it ;)

Just checked the review for it on >DP (http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/nighttrap.htm)

The pics aren't from the sega CD version though (maybe the Mega 32x?), at least compared to the pics on >this site (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://records.00home.com/pages/night_trap/1.gif&imgrefurl=http://records.00home.com/pages/night_trap1.htm&h=239&w=318&sz=13&tbnid=389eEH_Pr_oJ:&tbnh=84&tbnw=112&start=43&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dnight%2Btrap%26start%3D40%26hl%3Den%2 6lr%3D%26sa%3DN)

Those pictures are from the back of the box, though it's quite possible I grabbed them from the 3DO version. It certainly appears so.

You can find actual screen shots to the Sega CD version in our gallery here:

(the darker ones were captured from the Sega CD in play)

You can find actual screen shots from the 3DO version in our gallery here:

I just got the blue cardboard re-released version and just want to check and see if I'm missing any contents.

- Blue Box
- "M" Rated CD 1 in black sleeve
- "M" Rated CD 2 in black sleeve
- Extra empty black sleeve.Iis this just an extra or is there a 3rd disc?
- DP tatoo
- DP promo card for t-shirts, hats, soft goods
- DP promo games flyer
- Manual, missing. Did it come with a manual?

Wasn't there a second PC version, known as the Director's Cut?

Ok, first off, yup, you have the right pics in the right place in those links, digitalpress, but I just couldnt figure out why you have the 32x shots under the Sega CD review..hmmm :)

As for the blue box re-release, I believe it too only had 2 cds and, unfortunately, you are missing the manual as it did come with one.

As for the PC one, this is where much of the misinformation lies. The ad for it I found says "The original Directors Cut". Now, that could technically mean the original Sega CD red box release content. Some say it supposedly has extra footage, yet I have never read nor seen concrete proof of this extra content. Same goes with what version the 3DO one is based on. the Gamefan review I read ofit mentions nothing about it being the censore version, so its still not known....

I think that those are from the 3DO, or at least not from the 32X unless it had a lot of changes made when converted to PAL:

(My own 32X shot)

AFAIK there's no extra content in the 32X version over here either, just the re-vamped interface.

Do the CDs of the blue box Sega CD Night Trap have an ESRB "M" on them?

Ooooh, so THATS a real 32X shot! Actually the 3DO one is almost the same as the 32X, except the video window on the 3DO fills the whole screen and looks a bit more colorful than the 32X version. I guess the shot under the review could be from the PC version.
