Like with PlayStation memory cards? As far as I can tell, you can't, but I sure as hell wish I could.

I think to do it you would need a DexDrive, which would allow you to copy your file from your memory card to the PC, and then back down to another memory pack.

Ah, yeah, that would be possible. I don't have a DexDrive, though, so I wish it was a feature that Nintendo actually built in.

Try checking ebay i picked up a brand new boxed dex drive for $12.

I have all my valuable saves like, rakuga kids, goemon mononoke sugoroku & wonder project J2 backed up safe on my pc.

It's really worth getting its a great tool.

I've seen instructions for making homebrew PSX "DexDrives" from PC floppy cables; perhaps someone has modified them for use with N64 cards?

Is it possible to use a Dex drive to back up your saves directly from a Gamepak that doesn't have controller pak functionality?

No, but you can use a Gameshark Pro to copy the game's internal save (on most games, anyway) to the controller pak, then copy that with the DexDrive.
