View Full Version : Is it worth trading my black X-box for a Mt. Dew one?

My friend is the worlds biggest sucker when it comes to collecting stuff by "points". He never does anything with the crap he gets, but he really wanted that x-Box. But now he wants to buy some of my games because he doesn't want to mod it (like his ps2).
So I was thinking of trying to talk him into trading my 'Box plus a couple of games for his x-Box. But if they are of equal value I would just as soon sell him a couple of games.
But....
I am quite confident that I could talk him into swapping consoles. Is the value of these green machines still the same as a regular X-Box? If so I'd rather not give up more than, say, Halo2+my console for his. But only because I doubt he ever opened his. :D
From my understanding they made quite a few of these Dew X-Boxes and they just aren't worth any more $$$. Plus they are ugly-ish (imo).

Remind us why you want it in the first place then? :hmm:

If you think it's ugly then why would you want it? I cant help but think that it will have more value as a collectible down the road, but i dont think it will every be silly-valuable.

Thanks for the replies! O_O
I guess I came off sounding a bit crass. I'm a very wordy writer. Sometimes I leave out anectdotal information that might give me a better shine, to shorten what I write (I often hit "submit"15-20 times on a long post-just to prune it down). :)
I'm selling my X-box and games. This he knows. He also knows, through incessant ribbing at work, that he has $800 dollars tied up in getting his.
He doesn't care. The man never smoked and collects cigarette miles by the truckload. He is a true collector of the worthless. He wants a modded X-box, but not one that might be collectable. But he dosn't want his green one either, because he doesn't collect systems-nor does he play them. He wants to now buy games for it instead of modding it.
He's a fellow who is wired differently than most. I've known him my whole adult life, and he was my first roomate. The green X-box may never even leave his house. I may just bring my games up to his house and he can E-Bay it for me. Neither of us will think anything of it, and yet we will both be fully aprised of every little detail. This isn't an unusual deal between us. I've sold him a go-kart in a similar situation where he definately came out the victor, money-wise. And that broke computer I sold him, then fixed it so he could sell it for more. Never thought of stuff like that before. I guess some do.
I need the cash, he needs a modded xbox but doesn't want to mod something others might deem "collectable". We know someone who may mod it for some games. Which is the probable price-point of our transaction.
I don't know what that will be. But if it turns out too high than I may sell him my X-box cheap and he can pay for the instal out-of-pocket-who knows.
That's why I was wondering of the value difference. I can have something more presentable on E-Pay. Because, as the great Van Wilder once said, "presentation is everything".
And he can get his modded x-box and bazillion bootlegs that he won't play.

I don't see why it matters if he mods the MD one or not. I mean, he could always just remove the case and put it on another xbox if he wanted too.

He's just someone you would have to meet. He'll end upwith hundreds of games for it, but he'll never play them.

if you are at the right place or know someone you can obtain the shell only and transplant the guys from one to other.
I have both Halo green as well as plain green crystal shells that I've rebuilt using v1.0 NTSC M/B w/ Samsung drive and v1.5 PAL M/B w/ Phillips drive...
cheaper than buying new xbox coz I got those M/B from mates who attempted the mod chip installation and killed the board or so he thought... he he
