So I cheated - the wife and I open presents on Christmas eve. This year I got lotsa goodies from her:

For the Intellivision - Ladybug, River Raid, Defender, Thunder Castle and Diner. W00! That leaves me now with an extra Diner cart for trade. Also, she got me a "Running Man" coffee mug and Tshirt from Intellivisionlives.com

For the 7800 - Scrapyard Dog, Mat Mania and Midnight Mutants sealed :D

For the TG16 - A TG16 gamepad, a Quickshot joystick, and Final Lap Twin

For the PC/Mac - a new Sidewinder USB based gamepad.

What did you guys get this year?

We normally open all gifts on Xmas proper, but as "early" family gifts, I got Typing of the Dead for DC (with keyboard) and a Parker Brothers Bankshot Electronic Pool game (complete in box)! Also, the Mattel Electronics Football and Baseball re-releases!

Tommorrow, I'll be posting more, I'm sure. But these were nice little finds - especially since my folks are not "thrift-savvy" so I don't know where they founf the Bank SHot game.

ROBOTRON

Robotron 64 and Alien Crush -Psychosis(TG16)

Can't complain... Found a Limited Edition Platinum GameCube under the tree this morning from Michael and his mom. Totally unexpected!!! How he managed to keep me from frinding out is pretty amazing! Plus three games: Pikmin, Pac-Man World 2, and Star Wars Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron II. (And even though it wasn't a game, my Tron 2 disc set DVDs are pretty damn cool, too... And the ET gift set DVDs and music disc...) :D

And, of course, my Shadowgate NES cart from autobotracing!

Michael got THPS4, Medal of Honor Frontline, and GTA Vice City for the PS2.

Having two gamers in the family definitely has some extra benefits- W00T!

I specifically told everyone that all I wanted were video games, new, old, used, cheap, expensive, it didn't matter. Mom asks me to give her a list of what I wanted, so I spent over an hour going through the sales flyers trying to figure out what I wanted. So what do I get? Clothes. Mom said "You don't need video games, you need clothes."

Um, thanks Mom, but if you honestly believe that I don't need video games then don't ask me to write you out a list! Gah!

Good thing I had a secret Santa. :)

4 shirts.... I can deal with the clothing and no cool toys from family but cmon people at least do an assortment.

I did however ditch the family dinner "To much dissapointment and bad feelings all around" I thrive on causing turmoil on the holidays.

Got to sit at home and play Counterstrike for about 7 hours.

Got hungry and ate half of one of those Hickory Farm sausages.

Six Switch...

1000 Game Heroes is actually somewhat amateurishly done. The graphic design and presentation are top-notch, but the book is somewhat lacking in content. Rather than interesting notes about the games, what you mostly get are trilingual summaries and CG's of the characters. It makes a decent coffee table book, though.

Supercade is great and reccomended. Lots of interesting history and great presentation. I'd be very interested in a Supercade-style book from 1985-2000, if they made one (this one goes 71-84).

From my wife I got an early gift earlier this month: my XBox (refurb w/standard controller) and TimeSplitters 2.

From the rest of the family/friends:

Bag of Cheetos and a $10 EB gift card (the Cheetos is an inside joke, as I was seemingly addicted to them for a while and then went cold, um, cheese puff).

2 long sleeve polo shirts (I actually need shirts, so this was okay)

A pair of warm gloves (I needed those too, I mean I live in Wisconsin and it is winter)

$100 in cash (going towards purchase of Apex 27" tonight)

A fold-out tool box with tools I don't own (I'm sorely lacking tools...not anymore!)

A gift box of various nuts

Jelly Belly variety sampler pack

Star Trek Nemesis and LOTR Two Towers movie posters (not the ones you buy in the store, the ACTUAL PROMO POSTERS from a theater)

So the only game related thing I got was the XBox, it was my Mom that got the classic gaming goodness: I gave her Klax, SMB/Duck Hunt (she didn't have it), Fester's Quest, Tetris, and Golf for her NES.

Well to start of, I counted up all the change in my big plastic beer bottle bank...$120...add to this the $100 gift card I got from a relative for use at Toy's R Us, and I was off to get something...but what??
First stop...Toys r Us for a....Special Edition Black GBA, picked up a game -lite accesorry dealie for the GBA...hey look...a power supply new in the box for the N64 I found without a PS the other day...nice find! Ok the Gift card all gone...still got the $120 plus $10 I got from a relative for Christmas...off to GameStop for some games for the GBA...
wanted some RPG's and found Golden Sun,Breath of Fire, and the new Metroid game. Also found Konami Arcade Advanced.
The last stop was at a nearby thrift store to buy some C64 games...boy haven't seen any of these in a while...and they're BOXED!
Found the following....Bad Dudes,Double Dragon 2,Platoon,Red Storm,Ikari Warriors, & ACE (Air Combat Emulator). Was going to buy some Sega CD games, but not for $8 each!!
So thats Santa's gift-giving this year...wasn't that bad after all, or was that, I wasn't that bad after all!! The Keeper of the Old Games LOL

I mentioned this in another string, but I am too excited not to mention it here.

I got Robotron 2084 and Mario Brothers arcade machines! :o

I have played Robotron so much the past few days that my shoulder is hurting. The Robotron is pretty much perfect and the Mario Brothers needs a little work. No side art and the monitor is a little jacked. These are my first arcade games so they are extra special.

Yay! I am going to go play Robotron right now.
