My first 'real' gaming CD was (1993):
http://www.videogamecollectors.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=202096&g2_serialNumber=2

and what an excellent game it was :-)

That's a game I oughta play sometime. Bought it for Mac on sale for cheap, don't know if it'll actually work on my G5 (I do have Classic installed).

The oldest one I still own is probably Dark Forces. I picked it up CIB at a Value Village for $3 last week.

Oh, I thought the OP meant the oldest CD game you bought when it was still newly released. :)

Mine is the 1994 re-release of "Doom" with that extra episode. The next would be Duke3D in 1996

Most of my PC games are from '93-94, but just to throw one out there: Gahan Wilson's Ultimate Haunted House (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ultimate_Haunted_House)

That's not a CD game, it's a DVD game.

Not counting the abysmal sewer shark pack-in, that'd be Willy Beamish, followed closely by Prince of Persia and Sonic CD. I didn't buy a Sega CD until late '95 though. Aaah, the memories...
At least the good games were cheap by then! :D

I have this one. It's still in shrinkwrap, even. I didn't know it was that old, though. I haven't tried it because I just assumed getting it to work would be a bear.

Haha. Then I don't own a single CD game, in spite of the fact that I have owned hundreds, if not thousands through the years.

I also have that game, it's great. An adventure game that's non-linear and has lots of replay value as there's many different ways to win. :-D

My oldest are Monster Lair and Fighting Street for the Turbo Grafx 16 CD

I bought the CD attachment along with Monster Lair and then got Fighting Street the following week… this was back in the Spring of 1991, when I was able to afford a CD system after saving the needed money.

Was Monster Lair released slightly before Fighting Street? I too got ML first. Looking back, I think I would have got FS first not knowing from any reviews.

ML has fond memories. I have the number 1 score in the world (check out some early 1991 EGM issues), and even I had to cheat to beat it.

My understanding is that Fighting Street come out first. I got Monster Lair as I liked the game better than a fighting game but my main reason for getting CD attachment was for Ys. which I got that summer of 1991.

My understanding was that the two games came out simultaneously. But I could be wrong.

My mistake. I just looked it up and I did indeed but Fighting Street before Monster Lair. Yes, I keep a videogame list in the order I bought them, call me a wierdo. :) I got Ys as soon as it came out too (I had loved and beaten it a few years earlier on the SMS). I consider it to this day the number 1 video game in the history of gaming. Apparently, no one agrees with me.

The oldest CD-Rom game in my possession today would be the pack in YS I & II and Gates of Thunder 4 in 1. I did originally have the TG-CD attachment but was stolen when I was in high school (along with the games I had) so I purchased the TurboDuo (with home insurance money).

But I don't disagree with you on the YS I & II being one of the best ones ever! I have bought it twice on Duo, bought it for Virtual Console, and I put in my pre-order for Nintendo DS. I also am proud owner of YS III & IV on Duo/PC Engine, and have VI on PSP (soon to be PS2). Yeah I am an YS fan....

The oldest console CD game I own is probably Ys I-II for the PC Engine (released in 1989), but I bought it recently. The CD game that I've owned the longest is Sewer Shark on the Sega CD.... I think I got it in 1993. The next two were Silpheed and Lunar: The Silver Star, bought at the same time. What a couple of great games to get together!!! They made my friends jealous of my Sega CD.

PS. Ys is awesome. I've only played I-III though. Me not knowing so much Japanese (yet enough to get through I-II :) ) is a large factor!

Are you a Flames fan or an Oilers fan? Buffalo just took a big dump on the Oilers.

If PS1 games are considered CD games, then it is David Beckham Soccer for Playstation 1.

I'm pretty sure Dreamcast doesn't count, right?

Not wierd at all. I have historically kept my games in order received. Most are not able to understand my order of games since they are not in ABC or genre order LOL To many it just looks like disorder but when someone is asking for a game, I am able to instantly grab it out of its proper spot.

And I LOVE Ys Book I & II. I got the SMS version the year before free with the Power Base Converter - It even has a sticker on the cart "Sega for the 90s" but I wanted the TG-CD version the second I learn about it to play with improved graphics (I didn't even consider improved sound) and to play the sequel… plus I buy the hype of CD games being able to hold more data - Ys Book I & II - two games on one CD! I'll be getting the DS version to play all over again while on break time at work!
