Oldest, or first one I bought? If it's oldest, definately Tengai Makyou: Ziria, came out in 1989. I don't know what the earliest one I bought is, because I did alot of selling of games at Funcoland around the time I got my PSX. It's probably my release day copy of SaGa Frontier, though.

The first CD-Roms I ever bought were a couple of disks called "Quicktoons". They were those crappy, public domain Bugs Bunny and Popeye cartoons that some company had copied to CD format. I bought them in the spring of 1994, and still have them for some unknown reason.
I have lots and lots of CDs from late '94 and early '95, when I worked at Best Buy.
Some of the earliest CD games I remember buying were Magic Carpet, Willy Beamish, and the PC versions of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace.

My first CD system (PC) came with a large ammount of software... Journeyman Project Turbo, Spider-Man Cartoon Maker, and thats pretty much it for games. First Games I purchased for it seperately though were Stellar 7, Space Quest V or VI, and 3D Ultra Pinball.
First for a Console were Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter 2, and Virtua Cop that came with my Saturn... seperately though, World Series Baseball II and Panzer Dragoon.

I didn't get a computer until '94, and I didn't get a CD-ROM drive until '95. If I remember correctly, my very first CD game was King's Quest 7, the one where you play as both Rosalia and Valanese.

My first CD "game" would have to be tat Sherlock Holmes garbage I got for Sega CD around the the launch date with the system. I think that the first cd game I bought that didn't come with the system was that Wonderdog game...

Loom, Sherlock Holmes, and Sewer Shark are the first cd games that I clearly remember playing. God Loom was so easy to play, trail and error and memorization were the key to that game.

My first CD game I got was The Dig, also 1995. The oldest one I own is Fighting Street.

Mine is probably Rebel Alliance, for the PC. I have the original X-Wing on CD too, but I think it's a later release, as I know that was originally put out on FD.

Without dragging them out to check the dates, I'd say that mine is Tomba (PSX). Nothing too old in my disc section.

Fighting Street for the PC-Engine definately... The Jap version that is... which got released on the 4th of december 1988. I know that's one of the first CD games for the PC-Engine CD unit. And the CD-Unit (the suitcase model) being the first CD-based console.
I think Fighting Street got released at the same time as Noriko?

Well, I guess my oldest disc games would be my cardboard box Sega CD releases. Not sure which in particular is the oldest, but I'm guessing they're all roughly from the same time period.
As for the first I ever bought, I think it Final Fantasy VII (GH) and Star Ocean: The Second Story for PlayStation. O_o Yep, I didn't get into disc games until quite late. I was a Nintendo girl, so it was just carts for me.
And for my first CD ANYTHING ever, I think it was what, 1996? I know I was around 14 when I got my portable CD player and my first music CD. I pretty much had zero interest in music up until that point, so all I had before that were a handful of cassettes and a walkman. I didn't have a PC until 1998 either, so that's when I got my first computer-related discs. So yeah, I'm a late bloomer in all regards, I suppose. I didn't get into DVDs until pretty late also.

Hmm
Didn't multimedia just come out in 91? So for the PC anything before then was file related only?
I have a game called Beyond The Wall Of Stars from 1992. It is a cheasy live acting multimedia adventure by RA Montgomery who wrote the books of the same name.
It's a PC/MAC game. And I even beat it.

Raiden Project was out at launch I don't think Jumping Flash made the launch thought it did come out shortly after.
My oldest CD game would likely be Y's Book I&II. I think it was the third game released on the Turbo CD preceded by Monster Lair and Fighting Street. I think Valis II came out after Y's.

WipEout, which I purchased with my PSX in early 1996. I remember having such a giddy feeling that I finally owned a GAME ON CD-ROM (yes I'm a dork). I didn't own a computer until early 1997, which also came with a bunch of CD shovelware.

One of the Turbo CD's, JB Harold, Fighting Street, Sherlock Holmes, Ys 1&2 etc..
Star Wars Dark Forces
Heck ya! I have this too still for PC. I have all my old games like Doom 1-2. The problem is uless you have an old PC running Win95, the games are worthless. That is one reason I don't get into PC gaming that much. The games just don't last. BUT, I did play the original Bard's Tale for the PC on a WinMX machine. Can't believe after all these years this old DOS game would work on a PC today, amazing!

Not counting PC games, it's Sol Feace for the Sega CD, mint and complete. I got it when I bought my original Sega CD way back in the day. I didn't keep any of the other games that came with it though. I kept the Rock Paintings CD, but that's it. I don't think I even have the Hot Hits CD anymore. But I don't really care. I consider Sol Feace to be the true collectable in that lot.
Counting PC games, it's hard to say. Probably something like 21st Century Pinball Gold Pack, or some other DOS monstrosity that's completely useless with XP. Why DOS games were ever burned onto CD's without first being rewritten specifically for Windows 95 is beyond me, but that's what they did. Kinda like burning a 2600 ROM onto a CD and saying OK, try to make it work!

Thought this would be an interesting thread to bump.
Hmm... probably PSX Destruction Derby in the longbox.
Now I'd say it's a three way tie between that and the other two longbox games I own - Doom and Twisted Metal - since they were all released on the same day.

Either this terrible game from the early 90's called Stalker or the Magic Carpet and Nascar Racing cd's that came with my family's NEC. I was so excited when we got that computer!
I used to have Codemasters CD Rom games pack for Commodore 64, it's from around 1990, but heck, I cannot find it anywhere:

I have the CD versions of King's Quest VI (1993, I think) and Wizardy VII. When Wizardry VII was released in 1992, did the CD version come out at the same time? Not the Gold version, this is the original on CD. If those were released later then probably either my Sewer Shark or Sherlock Holmes for Sega CD. Wait, I have Rock Painting's somewhere, too, although I guess that's not technically a game.

Same here. It's probably the best $3 I ever spent on a Sega CD game.
My first 'real' gaming CD was (1993):

I have a burned CD from 1993. I think it was just a bunch of random stuff some friends and I had collected from the internet (wuarchive!!).
I pull it out every so often and check to see that it still works. Almost fifteen years and still going strong!

I'm guessing it's because a lot of DOS games were written before Windows 95 was made. Not a lot of people had CD-ROMs back then, but some people did.

Either Keio's Flying Squadrun for Sega CD or Fifa Soccer for 3DO. Both came out in 1994 apparently.
As for the first CD games I owned, I pretty sure I never had any until I got Super Smash Bros: Melee & Tony Hawk 3 with my GameCube in 2001.

The first CD-ROM based game I had was the ones that came with the TurboGrafx-16's CD add-on. Fighting Street was one of them. I don't recall if Y's Book I and II was a pack-in, but I recall it being one of the firsts I had. Along with Exile.
My earliest memories of using compact discs as data storage devices are accompanied by the whirring sounds that the Turbo CD drive made as it loaded. :) Ah, memories.

Monster Lair, which was was one of the original two Turbo CD games in the US (released the same time as Fighting Street). I also have Ys Book I & II, which came out shortly after.
It's (somewhat) common knowledge that these were the first console CD-ROM games, but does anyone know what the first commercial CD-ROM games for computer systems were?

That's usually the same way I end up getting great finds. :)
It wasn't all that easy to find the info, searching for "the history of CD-ROMs" or "first CD-ROM game" got me nowhere. I just came across an article on Myst, saw that it mentioned Manhole came out earlier, and looked that up to see if it was available on CD-ROM. Luckily the article on Wikipedia said it was the first game available on CD-ROM.

Wow, I did it off the top of my head without researching anything, and you STILL beat me to it! 8-)
Can't really compete here. My oldest disc game is one of the 100% cardboard long box PSX games, probably Wipeout. The disc game that I believe I've owned the longest would be my copy of Turismo #1. Even though I'm 49 years young, I got into gaming later than most. My very first ever game purchase was my copy of the just-released Diddy Kong Racing for the N64, at the same time of purchasing the console.
