something happened to me last night that i have not seen before.

I was playing Zelda links awakining DX for gameboy color but I was playing
on my gameboy SP

On the 8th dungeon there is a part that requires the use of the
D Pad only to fill in gaps in the floor. I couldn't do it
I tried over and over again but I wasn't even close. I began to think that
my D Pad was defective even though the unit is not that old.
Finally I tried it on my older Gameboy SP and still no luck.

I was about to give up when I decided to try the puzzle on my
gameboy Color. Guess what....I did it with ease on the first try.

I wonder if it was because the SP stretches the screen and maybe that
will through the control off or if there is another reason behind this.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with their SP?

i've never had anything like that happen, but ya know the SP doesn't always stretch the screen, you can use the L and R buttons to go between wide- and normal-screen mode. i would hope you knew that already, maybe that's not what you mean by "stretch the screen".

Really weird. I've heard a couple of titles had problems with the SP software, but never Link's Awakening.
Dunno what to think. But at least you had a GBC on hand!

I beat that game on my SP no problem. I remember ever having issues with the controls.

@T:
I just played through level 8 night before last, with absolutely no problems controlling that block, in either normal or stretched mode.

The stretching doesn't change anything as far as the game itself is concerned, it merely stretches the image horizontally. However, I can see it affecting a person's gameplay, because the increased width causes horizontal motion to appear to have a faster speed, and thus it's plausible that there are gamers who would have problems (whether that's the case with you, I don't know).

I sure didn't know this, thanks for the tip! Mega Man IV looks SO much better. No more mega fat ass.
