From the 16th though the 19th I'll be in Mnahattan with twelve of my good friends, one of which who is also a gamer as I am. Anyone of know of any good non-chain (ie. Gamestop, EB) videogames stores in the Big Apple?
Also anyone know of any comedy clubs that aren't 21+? Cause some of the people going are just under the age.

I don't knw about age restrictions there, but I do know that they're my favorite comedy troupe.
EDIT: Holy shit, Demetri Martin is going to be there tonight!? If you happen to get a chance to see him, I highly recommend it.

Uh, there's a place called JnL games or something, on Elizabeth, right off Canal, in Chinatown.
They R U L E. I just found it this past weekend, unbelievable store, everything I'd ever want to buy.
I'm going to specifically road trip up there when I have $$$ in a few months to blow like a grand and haul it all home.
Go to the Canal stop on the R train, and walk east, up Canal. Make a right on Elizabeth (just before Manhattan Bridge), and it'll be on the left side of Elizabeth as you walk south.
GO THERE.

Game stores? Forget that - I'll be deeply disappointed in ya if you don't get in one some of this action (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34148). LOL

Game stores suck in NYC. Period. I've had much better hunting in small cities.
If you like arcades, though, Chinatown Fair is really fun. Lots of great 2D gaming, and more SNK goodness than you'll find in the vast majority of arcades (in the US, at least). :) Don't fight the little Chinese kids, though; they'll totally whoop your ass.

Not true, see my post above.
Oh, and it's J&L games, not JnL.
I was in the garment district poking into those little electronics/camera stores that are everywhere, and it's surprising what you can find.
J & L is a nice place. Too bad it's generally overpriced. Still a nice store to look at though. I haven't been to MM 1.0 since it was taken over. I know a lot of the old stuff was sold off, how does it look now?

I agree, I have better find during my trips to Maine (lots of Flea market) than in Manhattan.
J&L is way overpriced but they have a very large selection for many systems (and lots of imports).
Gameexpress (Near Penn Station) used to be good for prices but last I heard they closed down the NY location and only deal online now.

The Chelsea Hotel.
Some of the best games are found there. Just be wary of anyone who wants to do a "Sid and Nancy." It's like GTA, but not in a good way.

I still stand by my statement. :P J&L is a waste of time, in my opinion. They have some interesting stuff that can be fun to look at, but everything is so overpriced that I wouldn't buy anything there. And if I just want to look at imports and such, that's what I got the 'net for. :P
