Okay, I have a FA-MAS F1 myself and I know that they don't even retail anywhere over $250.00 locally or even at most (fairly priced) online airsoft stores.

The other thing that I found funny about this auction was that the pictures were kind of blurry and the AEG itself looks used. The seller also makes a few mistakes such as indicating the incorrect BB capacity for the standard magazines: (FYI: The 'low cap' mags only hold 60 BBs, not 70)

To top things off, the seller tries to pass this AEG off as "rare" and even has the balls to sell it for even more than what I can pick one up for locally.

Man, I can buy a fully upgraded FA-MAS F1 for $375.00 + shipping. It's amazing what people will try to sell these AEGs for.

Dude, Tokyo Mauri guns do sell in the $250 range at retail.

A TM Fa-Mas is probably gonna run you $250 shipped from Japan, and if you somehow find a local place with a TM Fa-Mas, it'll be around $250 as well. That's atleast what I've experienced.

A better question why would you even want a TM FA-MAS? It's TM's first gun, and it feels so weird and plasticy, and ebay is the worst place to buy airsoft guns.

It's actually a pretty nice gun.

Well, it's always based on personal preference.

To me, I feel that the FA-MAS F1/SV is a solidly designed AEG which has it's strengths and weaknesses, just as all other AEGs do.

I bought F1 for several reasons:

* Bullpup design (only 4 Tokyo Marui AEGs utilize the Bullpup design)

* The Bullpup design makes it an excellent assault CQB weapon, a supporting fire weapon or a decent ranged weapon because of the long barrel

* Bullpup styling gives the FA-MAS a very futuristic look

* Integrated bi-pod

* Easy to access HOP-UP mechanism (it's in the cheek rest)

* Thanks to the Bullpup design, accidentally releasing the magazine from the rifle has NEVER happened to me. (I know people that use M4/AK type AEGs who have accidentally released their mags and lost them in the field)

* Great quality and price

* Uses a nice, large sized battery, which can have a huge MaH power storage size at a lower price than what other AEG's use

* It's the French Foreign Legion's rifle of choice

* Solid Snake used one (even though it's an SV) in "Metal Gear Solid"

* If I wanted to, I could change the outer body of the FA-MAS into a "Seburo MN-23" from the legendary "Appleseed" Manga/Anime by Masamune Shirow. (If I did that though, I would no longer use the FA-MAS at airsoft games) :P

* I've seen everyone else use M4s, M16s, G36s and MP5s, so I wanted to 'stand out' at the playing field

Now the above mentioned reasons for me choosing the FA-MAS F1 were based mostly on my playing style. (Even now, more so than ever.)

But, the FA-MAS series has it's downfalls:

* Extremely difficult to find upgrade parts for any of the FA-MAS AEGs (cosmetic or performance wise)

* Extremely difficult to find someone who is willing to upgrade/maintain the FA-MAS AEGs

* The FA-MAS EG560 Motors are some of the 'weaker' motors that Tokyo Marui uses and sometimes has a lower ROF than the newer AEGs

* The Tokyo Marui FA-MAS series AEGs are considered the 'older' models, and that's why upgrades are difficult to find.

* If you plan on using a sling, the F1 NEEDS an official FA-MAS French Military (standard) sling or an official Tokyo Marui FA-MAS sling (which was modeled after the real French Military FA-MAS sling) because standard, universal sling mounts will not attach to the F1's bi-pod lugs

* After a while, the gun becomes 'creaky'

* Hi-cap magazines only go up to 300 BBs whereas most other Tokyo Marui AEGs have hi-caps that go up to 600 BBs

All in all, I still love my FA-MAS F1. It's taken out many a player in the field even though it only shoots at about 320 FPS. Still, it suits me just fine and provides excellent supporting fire, especially when I do my personal technique "Panther's Crank N' Shoot". (Wind the Hi-cap magazine while shooting on full-auto to literally spray 270-290 BBs in any chosen direction for at least 20-30 seconds.) It's really difficult to hold an M16 or AK type weapon where the magazine is in the front and perform the same technique without fumbling in some way.

With a Bullpup, I can do the "Crank N' Shoot" while running or strafing and it doesn't feel awkward.

FA-MAS F1 for me por favor :D

Ever play CQB man?

Damn, heh, it's friggen fun as hell.

The Wisconsin Airsoft Association set up a CQB training day, and damn, just imagine going into a building with walls, SWAT style, sorta dark, and with hostages. Damn, that was intense. It was awesome that they played Black Hawk Down type music to conceal the CT's steps, otherwise it was really hard for the team to get in. Also, we had a riot shield, that kicked ass. Heh, made for some hectic matches.

Damn, that was fun.

I want to say as well, I've seen great FA-MAS's before. I knew a guy with a FA-MAS that was decked out with everything. He was an extremely good guy to have with ya on the field, especially in the trenches.

Also, heh, there's really no use for that bi-pod :P
