I have always wondered why people refer to the game boy advance as a game boy "advanced"

On ebay, here at DP, I even heard someone at a game store say this. Why do people choose to add that "D" at the end? Not sure why but it does bug me.

Is the gamecube next.....

gamecubed?

I've never seen/ heard anyone type/say that.

Also, check out the Buying and Selling forum here at DP. Someone is trying to sell a game boy "advanced" bundle as we type.

It's probably for much the same reason people go to "Meijers" and "Burger King's".

Well, 'Advanced Game Boy' certainly makes more sense than 'Game Boy Advance'. Not sure about 'Game Boy Advanced', though.

Drives me nuts everytime I hear it.

Because an adjective makes more sense there than a verb.

Probably because a lot of the games have "Advanced" at the end, so they get confused.

For years, my mother said "Best Buys" in referring to the store. Took me correcting her about 200 times before she started saying "Best Buy."

It actually wasn't until recently that I became aware that there's no game called "Zelda 64." I'd been calling it that for years before someone asked me,"What's that? You mean Ocarina of Time?" And I've beaten the game three times, too.

LOL Whoever was selling that game boy advanced in Buying and Selling has changed it to "advance".

Good call :D

besides just sounding gramatically better, it could just be the persons accent when talking (although that wouldn't account for typing)
