i believe there was no wireless controller for the dreamcast.
Edited cuz i swear i wrote dc instead of ps2.

^^; Checked here (http://gear.ign.com/dcgear.html?fromint=1) and no sign of a wireless unit. Even the HotD guns are wired.

;) Hmm, apparently 3rd Party Nuby made a controller, which was then made into a wireless unit. This was then released by Docs, but nothing from Sega :angry:

There were no official controllers released wirelessly. There was a third party set, but they were not exactly the msot comfortable things to hold. I've passed them up because of that when I've seen them.

What is the difficulty in making one? My guess is that these small companies can pull off digital controller wireless conversions blindfolded. But it might take $$$ and R&D for the analog stick. Maybe that is what is why 3rd party companies haven't come out with such a promising seller. Just guessing. I bet if we wait we'll still see a good one someday. FTR-I've been wanting this item myself for quite sometime.

My guess is that it would require too much power for the VMU, also you would probably need a special sender/receiver for the bandwidth required for the VMU to send data to the DC.

you could move the VMU port to the receiver, that's how most Xbox wireless controllers have it. then put the transmitter in the empty space where the VMUs would normally go.
hmm.. but then you wouldnt be able to play Seaman. oh well.

Hori and Optec both made wireless pad for PS1/2 and Optec is using IR unlike Hori's RF so I don't think it's impossible to come up with one. The issue is the company see no demand for these if they spend R&D to develop one...
I myself won't mind wireless pad for DC coz that is the only console I don't have wireless pad unlike my other Xbox/GC/PS2/PS1/PCEngineDuoRX/Wondermega/Saturn...
