So I decided I'd like the kongas games, so I picked up jungle beat and donkey konga with 2 bongo controllers yesterday. I have to say I was very surprised with how fun Jungle Beat is. I've only played for about an hour but It is one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a while. I'm wondering if anyone else is or has picked this up and what they think.

I just snagged it, and it is indeed the funnest (is that word?) game so far this year. I just opened up the fourth kingdom and it's hard to stay away from the game for more than a few minutes... it's... calling... me!....

im def. considering getting it with the bongos...i already have 2 bongos, so this would give me a 3 set for multiplayer

ive been hearing a lot of good things about it, so the possibility of getting it is pretty good

I played some of it on a demo station, for about 15 minutes, and it was really awesome. Yet another reason I need to get a GC

Definitely buying it, with any luck before the end of the week.

@davidbrit - I think it's $50 with the bongos, $30 without.

Okay, then file me under maybe. But Monkey Ball Deluxe is higher priority at the moment. Heh.

Actually its $55 with bongos and $40 without.

I picked it up yesterday. Its a fun game and I'm glad they are doing stuff like this. The only problem is that its really short. I'd estimate the total time it'll take me to beat the game 100% is 4-5 hours. It's more of a "try to beat the high score" game IMO...still great though.

I've been keeping an eye on this title, want to use my bongos more and I love most Donkey Kong games (mainly adventure kinds) so I guess its only smart to pick this one up - Dont got enough funds a the moment but I'll be getting it for sure.

^Right on the money

Got it and beat it. (No pun intended :D )

Initially the game was a "GOTTA BEAT IT!" since progression unlocks new levels. Now the game is a "GOTTA BEAT THE HIGH SCORE!" Which is very fun in its own right, and as challenging as you make it.

The game is a great game to sit down an hour at a time and pound your way through all the stages, or as a pick up game for a quick 5 minutes.

My only complaint is that there were really essentially 4 bosses.....variety there would have been nice.

My bongos are actually getting used now, and I no longer regret buying them for that steaming pile called Donkey Konga.

Actually, we have it at Kmart for $50 with and $40 without. Which is weird. $10 more and you get a second set of Bongos? I'm there! I mean, if it were $30 without, then it would be justifiable, but for $40, just get the one with the Bongos. As soon as I have enough to throw away, I'll get it. But for now, I just have too much to spend my money on. :embarrassed:

My girlfriend always jokes that she is taking the Donkey Konga and the 2 sets of bongos when she leaves me. They actually are hers, and she picked up Jungle Beat this weekend. I was never really a skeptic regarding the game, but wondered how well the bongo controller would work with a platformer, as anyone who has played Eternal Champions with an Activator can understand. The screenshots of swimming were a bit worrisome to me for some reason.

Nintendo manages to do it again. This is a very innovative title from a gameplay standpoint, and probably the first game that uses a gimmick controller in an alternate control scheme to excellent effect. (The last being the NeGcon on the Ace Combat games, but that is not a perfect application) The mainstream press has panned the game for being too short, too easy and too much of a gimmick as usual, but I think that these things are almost all positives. The ease of gameplay is what makes this game so addictive and keeps it from being frustrating. The gimmick is what makes it so unique, as the bongos plus the game make for the best use of the DK franchise since DKC on the SNES.

It goes without saying that the game is also gorgeous.

Anyone who enjoys old-fashioned Nintendo fun should most definitely pick this up.
