Strange Rocket Knight Adventures cart ..

I recently received a large number of Megadrive games including some PAL and some Japanese. And one that appears to be both :/

Initially I thought it was just a PAL Rocket Knight Adventures, as that is what it looked like from the box. But when I opened it up, despite having the PAL box and manual, there is a Japanese shaped cart inside - but with a PAL style label on it! To add to the confusion, it also has a Japanese style patent info sticker on the back of the cart!

What the hell is going on with this?!? I presume that RKA got a proper Japanese release? This isn't some strange hybrid like the Acclaim Japanese releases, is it? Anyone got any ideas?? Everything is absolutely mint condition, so it doesn't seem likely that any label swapping has gone on or anything like that.

I'm confused!

Exactly! And I know for sure that Quackshot had a proper Japanese release, so that is obviously something else. Asian PAL release perhaps?? Hong Kong??

I'd assume they're Asian releases, as those often had PAL-style packaging, but used Japanese cart shells. But then, I thought that Asian carts had a slightly different (gold instead of silver) MD logo...so I'm really not sure. =\

And yes, RKA had a proper Japanese release. It actually has a different intro than the English version. :)
