I want to get the Point Blank games, Time Crisis and Area 51 as I love shooting games but in reading some of the old threads, it seems like some guns only work with certain games. Would this gun work with the games that I listed above or do PB & TC need the "GunCon"? (I also have a Saturn...)

Thanks in advance for your help and if anyone has any of the above listed games or guns for trade, let me know. I'd prefer to trade but purchases will also be considered. (My trade list needs a bunch of stuff added to it so don't consider that to be all that I have... :D )

Any PSX gun works with it to my knowledge
I always use my Scorpion gun, the one shaped like a pistol! Works fine!

Any PS1 gun not made by Namco should run Area 51 as it uses the old PS1 standard. Point Blank and Time Crisis will require a GunCon compatible gun. There are Nyko guns like the one shown that do have GunCon compatibility so it probably does but I can't say for 100% sure since there could be an older model I don't know about.

Okay, since I posted this, I've gotten Project Horned Owl, Time Crisis: Project Titan, Area 51 and Point Blank 2. I'll have to say, I can play Point Blank 2 for hours on end and am dying to get 1 and 3. TC: PT is fun too but always having to hold the A button on the GunCon can be a hand-cramping experience. I do, however, like the idea of ducking behind cover to reload. Is TC a good game as if so, I'm going to start hunting it down.... :D

I can't believe that Dangerboy actually knew all that. That was just off the top of your head, wasn't it?
Anyway, while I'm usually strictly a 1st-party peripherals man, for PSX light guns I like some of the Hong Kong stuff, just because they have recoiling slides and actual pedals, like the arcade.
I personally recommend:

Maximum Force actually has Guncon support, so it supports both light gun standards. I've tried it myself, and it's confirmed in this gamespot review:

I really enjoy Time Crisis. As far as the hand-cramping use of the side button on the GunCon goes, you can avoid that by pluggin any standard PlayStation controller into the other controller port and using it as a foot pedal. A low profile arcade stick might even work better for you. You could probably use a 2nd GunCon as a foot pedal, too (though I haven't personally tried that).
The Nyko Cobra that was shown in the link in the first post doesn't have GunCon compatibility though there is another model of the Cobra that's quite similar and is GunCon compatible. The most obvious difference between the two is that the one with GunCon compatibility has a composite video piggyback cable alongside the cable that plugs into your console's controller port.
I'm also pretty sure that Die Hard Trilogy 2 supports both types of light gun.

You can just plug in any ol' steerign wheel with foot pedals accesory into the playstation's second controller port for the pedal. works great :)

Reading this thread has got me curious. I use a PS2 for playing PSOne games. Is there one version of the GCon that I can buy to play games from both generations, or do I have to have an original one for PSOne games, and a GCon2 for PS2 games?

The PS2 needs a guncon2 to run the games..... It's suppose to be able to handle PSOne stuffs but i've not gotten it to see the game at the time (and I think it was a 'Justifier' type issue).

If you like gun games, you absolutely need to pick up Elemental Gearbolt. It is heavenly.

When Resident Evil: Dead Aim came out for PS2, you could buy a version packaged with a third party light gun by Hip Gear. The gun can switch between Guncon 1 & 2 as well as standard Playstation support. It also has auto fire and reload, as well as a recoil feature (although the recoil makes a lot of noise and is pretty strong). The gun is good quality, but I would have to say an original GCon 1 or 2 has a better "feel" and seems more accurate. I don't know what other third party light guns are like, but at this point I'm sure there are more guns which can switch between all three standards.
Quite some time ago, I e-mailed Namco about GCon2 support for PS1 games. As I recall, they said you need a GCon1 for those games. I think they also said that GCon1 would support Time Crisis 2 and maybe one other game, but all other PS2 games would need a GCon 2.
