Gooood morning and Merry Christmas all!

This is embarrassing! Brian was my Secret Santa, but his DP name escapes me at the moment! I tried to look up the earlier SS thread where he identified himself, but it was deleted. So, Bri', when you see this, confess up again so folks know your actual DP ID!

(Edited! THanks "Lexicon!" DP filled me in below!)

Anyway, my SS hit one out of the ballpark! He got the impression from my "Want list" that I'm into horror and horror games. And he was absolutely right! And he got me several games I've been looking for, as well as some great reading material. Well, get a load of this:

1. Stephen King's Nightmares and Dreamscapes. I'm a Stephen King hound and have most of his books - except this one! There's some great reads in here that I've never seen before!
2. An HPL collection! Even bigger than KIng, I'm a voracious reader of HP Lovecraft. I didn't specifically mention this author's name on my list, but this is a GREAT gift. Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror, The Color Out of Space, etc. I love the Cthulhu Mythos and this book puts them all into one to-be-well-read tome!
3. In keeping with the horror motif, I receieved Resident Evil: Survivor for PSX! Now, I used to own this game when it first came out, as I'm a RE fanatic. However, I traded my copy in a long time ago - a move I've always regretted 'cause I really like thi game! However, I've been unable to find it locally in used game stores and eBay prices were insane. Thanks for bringing one of my favorites back home!
4. *Sealed* Illbleed for DC. I'm now collecting for the Dreamcast, and had not heard of this survival horror game for the DC. WOW! What a bizarre, fun premise! I'll be pounding on this game for hours to come!
5. Moving away from all things horrific, I also got a *sealed* Street Fighter III for DC! I can't wait to place this game too! I've heard nothing but great things about it!
6. A *huge* stack of Wild Arms postcards. I'll be using these for Xmas thank you cards, just to confuse the family!

Needless to say, I'm very pleased, impressed, and overjoyed with the presents I got. I cannot BELIEVE that there was RE:Survivor and an HPL book within as they were never mentioned on my list. Talk about psychic ability to pick the "perfect gift!"

Thanks again Brian/Lexi! You truly ROCK! :D And Merry Christmas to the rest of you!

Mine was from Nesman85. Unfortunately, I had opened it early because I thought it was an EBay package I was watching for as I didn't know his real name. So I boxed everything back up and held off playing anything out of it until Christmas.

I got:

StarTropics 2: Zoda's Revenge (NES) Loose
Ninja Gaiden (NES) Loose
Marble Madness (NES) Loose
Super Mario/Duck Hunt (NES) Loose

Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack (INTV, Complete)

Speedway!/Spin-Out!/Crypto-Logic! (Odyssey2) Loose

Mach 5 Cartridge by Access (C64 I think)

I also don't yet know who my Secret Santa is...I know his real name (Greg Wilcox) but not his DP ID. Now to open the gifts...I got one small one and one larger. I'll open the small one first...

ST Key for the Sega Saturn--I have to admit I had NO idea what this was for! I looked it up and it is used to enable your Saturn to play any Saturn game from any country. Cool...I'll have to get me some imports now!

Now to open the larger package...inside were two Saturn games, neither of which I had and which are not in the kind of case I'm used to seeing Saturn games in...one looks more like a Genesis case. At any rate they are...

Myst--I've obviously heard of Myst before but have never owned a copy nor have I ever played it.

Andretti Racing--A racing game that I'm not too familiar with...I have to admit I never bought many Saturn games.

The one fear we probably all share is that we get something we already had...I'm glad to say I had NONE of the items I got for Christmas and I'm extremely pleased with what I got so thanks, Greg...no matter what ID you use on the DP boards!

My Secret Santa was Steve Jacobs (NoahsMyBro)

I should start by saying I probably made it kind of hard on Steve, as I collect for a multitude of systems, but didn't include any specific lists. :) I have 100+ carts for most systems I collect for, yet I didn't have anything in particular that I wanted. :/ But having said that I was very happy with I received!

Oh yeah, and I sort of cheated, and opened early this morning after I finished wrapping my last Christmas gift, sometime around 3AM, as I was watching The Christmas Story on TNT for the 5th time in a roll. :D

OK now for what I received:

A splattering of 2600 carts, including Air-Sea Battle(text label) which I needed, Demon Attack (text) and Golf, another I needed, and a few more for the trade box.

Karateka 7800, I actually still needed this up until a week ago, recently traded for it, D'oh, but this might be a label upgrade.

Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety for SNES, This will tie in nicely with the new Spider-Man dvd I just received, and was another need.

Lakers vs. Celtics(complete in cardboard box) for Genesis, This was another that I needed, and marks my 145th boxed Genny title!

André Panza Kick Boxing Boxed complete for TG16, Marks my 5th boxed game, I have no idea how Joe was able to complete his TG16 collection, with all 93 or so boxes damn. But this was also another game which I still needed.

And finally to wrap it all up, Steve included a personal Mix CD, which ROCKS, I listened to it once last night and it's playing right now as I type this!! I thought this was just a very personal gift, and just totally blew me away! Odd thing is I'm a music fanatic, and I've heard, downloaded, or own original CDs, LPs, & 8 tracks of most of the artists on this disc, but I honestly haven't listened to ANY of these songs besides for one!

Thanks Steve!!

The Young Game Collector had better do some fast explaining, or else his ass is mine.. I just got word that the person who he was supposed to play Santa for did not, and still HAS NOT recieved a gift. This after I got a note from Mr Game Collector saying his gift had been sent.

Can you tell I'm just a LITTLE bit pissed off?

I sent mine via first class on the...16th i think it was?

This is a very thin rope you're on here. First class on the 16th from Washington to New York means it SHOULD have arrived before the 25th. I'm taking this very seriously as an organizer.. Do you know HOW bad I feel for someone who waited not just until Christmas, but a couple days AFTER, just to make sure it didn't get delayed due to the Christmas rush, before even letting me know they didn't get anything?
I remind you, that I vowed I would see any non-sending participants banned, so I hope you can come up with some proof that you shipped it.

Oh no.. YOU didn't get your present either?!?
Is there anyone else that didn't get a present yet? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

And Heather, no. The Young Game Collector was not your Santa. Nikkita was your Santa, and SHE told ME over a week ago (almost two, I think) that she bought something off eBay and gave the seller your address to ship it to, and they messed up and shipped it to her, so she bought something else & had them do the same, but I don't think the last time she replied to me that she ever confirmed with that seller that they sent it to the right place... *sigh*

I'm getting concerned because I haven't heard if my package made it to my "victim" or not :(

I hope so...although I do know that in a non-holiday format, a package sent from Ohio took over 3 weeks to get to Oregon...so anything is possible...

hope all is well

...Now to open the larger package...inside were two Saturn games, neither of which I had and which are not in the kind of case I'm used to seeing Saturn games in...one looks more like a Genesis case...

hey rog- those are PAL games, thus the weird cases- i think one or both run in 60hz mode, so you won't see black bars on the top and bottom of the screen (hopefully, lol- i hadn't played any of those games in a while, so i don't remember). i had planned to stick 2 or 3 loose japanese SS games in the package, but i ended up forgetting to (they were supposed to go in with a note with my e-mail & dp handle- d'oh)... :D

I'm HOME!!! You have no idea how happy I am to be back! Driving from NJ to Atlanta with my wife and son was nice for the first 85% or so of the trek. As we got close to Atlanta though, it became tiresome.

THEN, spending nearly a week with my Mom, Stepdad, brother, Grandma & Grandpa in Atlanta was a very trying experience. It was a relief to get back in the van yesterday morning. We hit the highway at 12:34pm EST in the Buckhead section of Atlanta, GA. We rolled into my driveway in Northern NJ at 6:33am EST this morning.

This afternoon my neighbor arrived home and I got to retrieve my Secret Santa package!

WooHoo! Thanks Dave, it all looks really cool.

And now the moment you've all been waiting for, the loot:

1 Green Topmax Joystick controller for the Dreamcast
1 Fishing Controller for the Dreamcast (ASCII brand?)
1 Innovation DC Super Game Converter (allows the use of imports on the DC)
An ST-Key for the Sega Saturn
Some sort of strange Blue LED pointer thing from Lucas Arts
And last, but definitely not least, a pair of Cow (yes, you read that right, cow) boxer shorts from Prima Games!

I have a black Topmax already, but everything else is a completely new addition to my collection.

I've heard the fishing games are a blast on the DC with the fishing rod controller, now I get to try them out. I mentioned in my wishlist that I like hardware and oddball controllers, Dave came through great on that!

As for the ST-Key, I got Japanese Christmas Nights a while ago and haven't found the time to mod my Saturn yet, so the ST-Key will be just the ticket for that.

I don't know what the light-thing is, but it certainly looks cool.

As for the boxers, hmmmmm..... They're big. They have a cow print. Maybe Gateway is looking for part-time workers for a new ad campaign I could participate in? Really, I just don't get it. This is the first online activity I've taken on since opening the package. I'll investigate Prima later on and see if I can get to the bottom of these shorts (ha ha ha - I kill me!).

Thanks again Dave - that was a very cool package.

Honestly... don't give up on this one yet. I got an email from her on the 26th with some sample pictures. I'm not exactly "trusting" but I wouldn't distrust at this point either.

Both Nikkita and the Young Game Collector have gone MIA. You'd think they'd at LEAST post something, I mean like ANYWHERE on the forums. You got photos from her on the 26th? How come she still hasn't answered MY email? And the Young Game Collector fell off the face of the earth after it was posted that the person he was supposed to ship to never recieved anything.

That's super nice dsullo but totally not necessary, the friends I've made on this board far outweigh any little Christmas present.
Although if someone could point where I can buy a plush Kirby I would be grateful, I've been searching for days since I can't get his commercial out of my head.
Nightmare in dreamland KIRBY! Beating up the bad guys, and takin' away their powers!

Oh, and I'm a girl! :)

I've been seeing the young game collector on the forum a lot. In fact, he is on right now.

We'll see what we can do about that...

Interesting. I am glad I was pointed to this thread.

No. I am not "MIA".

I told quite a few people I would be gone for a few weeks. Does that mean I would have net access? Let's see....... The connection speed was a 28.8, it was christmas time and there was only one phone line.

I did as much as I could.

If anybody still has any doubts here's the conversation with the seller:

And no, I'm not gone, I have just been busy, but if you want me gone, then I will, with sadness, leave.

So, sorry it couldn't work out the way I, and everybody else, expected, but there's the receipt. If you want screen captures of the PayPal money archive, then I'll post those too.

I really hope some of you are happy...
Anyone who has known Nikkita knows she's a pretty honest person and I really couldn't believe she'd rip off or take advantage of this Secret Santa deal...
I'm really ashamed of some of you.

Don't try playing Monday morning quarterback Michael... if you believed in her so much why didn't you stick up for her BEFORE she explained the situation? I'm not feeling guilty about this at all. Nikkita is a friend and I'm glad she's back but I have a responsibility to this forum, and this particular event should have been taken seriously. I know from firsthand experience that being on the receiving end of someone who bails out of the game really sucks.

The very reason why we've given them both the opportunity to show up and explain/redeem themselves is BECAUSE there is trust. I know I'd feel a little better if WILYKAT made good on his agreement even now, a year later.

Glad to see you back, Nikkita, and I hope you can work this out with Chocobokick.

Hold up there Michael. Remember this classic?

I'm only going to ask this once, I ask that you never speak down to me in a manner such as you just posted. I am not a child I am a mature teenager and I ask that you never speak to me in a degradeing manner ever agian.
Take your own advice and think before posting a "parental tsk, tsk, tsk, aren't you ashamed of yourself" message. We're not kids either.

Back to the subject at hand: There has been a LOT of lying and deceit on this board/forum recently (Orochi, Blake's many names, etc.) and people are sick and tired of playing the Truth Police. Folks are immediately assuming the worst because - let's face it - it's happening way too friggin' often recently.

So, as it appearred to board members, Nikkita and TYGC each did not send a gift, did not reply to e-mails, weren't posting to the forum, and pretty much up and disappearred. TYGC has a history of being a flake and Nikkita - well - she's still new. Last year, the only SS to flake out was someone (Wilykat) who posted a lot, contributed regularly, and disappearred right after they got their SS gift. It happens. It *did* happen.

I'm glad to see Nikkita's back and am happy to see the info offered. It's a shame she is under such scrutiny, but I'm happy to see it was all just a misunderstanding and everything's getting hammered out.

TYGC? Jury's still out.

Needless to say, *everyone's* messages and actions are being judged a little more harshly after other recent events. Nikkita just happened to be caught in the crosshairs. But blind trust in the overall honesty of others? That'll take a while to get recultivated. And I'd expect no less if *I* was the one in the bullseye.

Anyway, let's just close this thread while everyone gets their respective affairs in order.
