I've been thinking, there has to be a market for video games aimed squarely at marine bird life. But what all would be involved? Let's look at the factors that come into play.

1. No controllers that would exclude anyone relying solely on talon and/or beak control.

2. No controllers made out of Alka Seltzers.

Can anyone think of anything else? Surely gulls are a vast untapped video gaming market just waiting to explode.*

* assuming you violated rule #2 and gave them an Alka-Seltzer.

What a sweet niche market! However, I hope you're also planning ergonomically designed game equipment for pelicans. I know they're a small percentage of marine birds, but it'd be like ignoring left handed humans!

Pelican game development?

Who's footing...dare I say it...the bill for that?

What about a game designed for these birds.

Sorry couldn't resist. :shameful:

I anticipate a trend of revisionist updates to classic games to remove potentially offensive seagull references.

I think that a video game adaptation of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is in order.

A game for Guls, would that involve killing tons of Bajorans? LOL

Seriously, how about a Drakengard-style game where you go into a crowd of other birds and fight them for their bread?

I think Gulls need an overhead style game where you poop on as many beach goers heads as possible.

Grand Theft Fodder

The city life is tough and you gotta fly into pigeon terriitory and steal some food to take back to your nest, but watch out for them city hawks and the suburb crows.

Only then would "Freeway" be considered a Mature game LOL

I think Gulls would like Sega Marine Fishing for the Dreamcast and Flicky for the Genesis.

oooh, games for gulls.

Will it smell like fish?

The Gull game will be one where you fly around like a Lerk in the Natural Selection mod for Half Life and you pick up clams with your mouth. You then fly up really high and drop the things, then swoop in and get the juicy innards before the other gulls get to it.

The DS is the closest thing on the market to a Gull-friendly system. They can use their beaks to play WarioWare and Feel the Magic. I just hope neither of those games have sequences involving killing seagulls...

I always dreamed that Echo the Dolphin would have a sequel based on the life and quest of that seagull flying waaaay off in the background.

Fly beatiful little free bird! Spread your wings! Fly!

(Rob will now go kill 50 hippies)

well looking threw articlues and with help in some inside leak....Pelican (the company) is making a univeral bird friendly controllers, mouses, and keyboards. it will be a while but the technology is their. as far as games, the german based developer Vögel des Himmels is working on a trilogy that is directly aimed at gull/pelican/ other various birds. hope this gives some insite into this subject :D :D

We'll need to do some empirical research to get some hard data. I'll assemble a focus group! I'll grab my tranq gun and head on down to the wharf.

Should we ban Duck Hunt?

For both inspiration and strength, I think all should take time out and reimmerse themselves in the apex of gull literature: Jonathan Livingston Seagull!

I wonder what Harvest Moon: Its a Wonderful Life for Gulls would be like?

Sony could make a killing adapting the Eye Toy for avian use. Think about it, being able to spread their wings and bend from side to side to make their onscreen avatar fly....

ohwait...that'd be a life simulation.

It would be an overhead game where you hovered over the beach and caught pieces of bread that people threw up at you, while avoiding the pieces of bread with alka-seltzer tablets rolled up inside them.

How about a motion-capture like deal where they could sort of 'hover' or at least hold position and move up and down to simulate diving for fish?

It'd be like Mocap Boxing only... for gulls.

I think we could bridge the gap between guys and gulls by making an Eyetoy game where you've gotta FLAP YOUR ARMS LIKE CRAZY to stay in the air! We'd respect gulls a lot more after we walk...well...flap...a mile in their...erm...webbed feet.

Yeah.

You bloody fool.

Everyone knows videogames are marketed to white male humans.

To hell with the gulls. Let the gulls enjoy Frogger, Ms. Pac Man, and Centipede until eternity.

My dream is that we don't stop until at least 50% of gamers are gulls. Can I suggest that gull games never portray gulls with blood rush to the face, a reddening and a thickening of the beaks, or a thickening of the eyelids-resulting in that heavy, bedroom-eye kind of look so as to not offend any gull gamers?
