For those of you following video games for a long time. Do you think we can expect a price-drop of DS when PSP hits the stores? or soon after...?

I would doubt it, the DS is still really new and its price difference is already great between the two.

Well, I think maybe around chirstmas time. At least in my opinion. They are selling fine at the price it's at now. Maybe that will change though a few months after the PSP release though. Depending on how that sells, and affects the DS's sales.

I would be really suprised if it did. Currently, the DS has a price point of $100 less than the PSP which is quite an influential factor to many buyers.

Additionally, the PSP bundle will be priced at $250 throughout 2005 (per the Sony rep). At January 06, the price is expected to drop to $200, but will no longer be a bundle....just the core unit. Even then, the DS still has a $50 price point advantage.

Will it drop at PSP launch? I doubt it.
Will it drop at Holiday 05....possibly.
Will it drop at "GBA2"...probably.

I'd much rather they just drop the games to a maximum of $25 each. I find it hard to spend $30 every time.

Of course, then they'd have to do it for the GBA games. Well, I think the reasonable thing is to make all GB games $20 standard and all DS games the MAXIMUM of $30. I'm talking to you, EA. (Not that I'd ever buy an EA DS game.)

$119.99 in June, and yes you may quote me on that! 8-) Seriously though, I've worked at video game stores long enough ans seen when prices of systems drop to KNOW this. You never know but we'll see ;)

By Holliday I see drop down to maybe 129... I doubt 99 this early. 99 might happen as the "Revolution" draws its final ammounts of hype before release time.

Hopefully when that all happens (the earlies price-drop) the GBA SP will be a good 49.99 and I'll finally be able to set up Four Swords Adventures, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and Pac-Man Vs.!

Is there really gonna be a GBA2?

Apparently. Supposedly it is coming out this year. Guess we'd have to wait until E3 to find out.

Frankly, I think Nintendo should have just swallowed their pride and made the DS the next Game Boy. Don't even bother making another system. Just transition over to the DS. What they should have done is put more effort into it, made the DS have Game Boy connectivity and GBA functions and just called it the next Game Boy.

*sigh*

Hopefully there won't be any good games on the GBA 2 so I won't have to buy one of those AND a PSP to go with my DS and GBA1. Aye carumba!

Didn't we have to go through this farce once before already? Sega CD, 32X, Saturn...yadda yadda.

Nintendo has an obvious precedent to warn them off, but for some baffling reason they want to go through with two handhelds. If they're clever at all, they'll realize that the idea is suicide.

I'll join him in this bet. If they dropped it around the PSP launch it will show weakness. Remember, mass market isn't as smart as us so, if it's dropping price, it must not be a good seller so therefore it's crap.

I'd say around june a price drop (hopefully on the 16th woo! hint hint) Then since GBA2 and christmas sound like a sure thing. About then maybe again?
