Problems connecting to Live in MVP 2005

I just picked this game up tonight and cannot get online with it for some reason. Keep getting a message that says something like "The EA servers are experiencing problems right now. Please try again later" whenever I try logging in. Tried some non-EA Live games and had no problems connecting with those.

At first I thought the problem might be a combination of EA using their own Live servers and me using a router, but I disconnected my router and connected my Xbox directly to my cabel modem and it's *STILL* not connecting for some reason.

Anyone have an idea what's wrong here? Could EA's servers really be down (unlikely) or is it a problem on my end. I can't figure it out.

Can anyone with MVP 2005 for Xbox confirm that there is a problem with the EA servers? I still can't connect for some reason.

I don't have MVP, but FIFA has been VERY laggy over the past week or so... I don't know if that's related or not though...
