You know the company responsible for Double Dragon. This would be a good series for the Xbox to pick up, just look how good Ninja Gaiden was. Stab away!

I think RCR would appeal more to new gamers. Double Dragon may be too simple to them if they donīt add new features.

BTW, Double Dragon has been released on the GBA, and Technos died on 1996 approximately.

Many Technos employees formed Million. Who programmed the GBA versions of Double Dragon and River City Ransom. So they are "Technos" productions still essentially :)

That's good to know and well maybe a console version of Double Dragon would be nice it may also ruin the series like what has happened to Contra and Final Fantasy, Mega Man, etc.

This topic reminded me of a company I thought was doing really good and then all of a sudden dissapeared. Renovation was the company, they made alot of good shooters on Genesis and some Valis games. I remember the creepy guy with the mustache ad in the game magazines. Can you say Gai Ar Us? Or something like that anyways. So what happened to this company?

Wasn't Renovation just a publisher, like Working Designs? Just handled localization while Japanese developers like Wolf Team actually created the game?

Yup, just a publisher. I'm not sure what handled to all the creators of the games they published, but Wolf Team fizzled out too. Wolf Team was pretty much dead the day Gotanda and a good portion of the other employees left and founded tri-Ace, where they're happily making very good RPGs with the inspiration coming from their last project as Wolf Team - Tales of Phantasia. What little was left of Wolf Team was used by Namco to create more Tales games until Telenet died and Namco officially absorbed what few original Wolf Team members were left into their own Tales Studio.

I remember a letter from a reader sent to GAMEFAN, asking about what happened to Wolfteam....Maybe I should find that copy and scan that page....Does that sound interesting?

i'll agree with you about FF and megaman, but there was at least one good Contra game made in this generation and that's Shattered Soldier.

If DD was handled properly like Ninja Gaiden was it would be a good game. Obviously it couldn't be just punch, kick and jump. It needs to have more. Throw in some combo's, a couple of special moves, an intriuging story and a good co-op mode and you could have a good game.

I remember reading a mag blurn somewhere last year about Technos claiming rights to the Jap name of River City Ransom. I can't remeber what magazine it was and what has happened since.

They could always borrow Evoga's / Noise Factory's Rage of the Dragons take on Double Dragon. That would be pretty interesting to have a Beat Em' Up Double Dragon game featuring the ROTD version of the characters. Or even just continue the games as a fighting series. I'd deffinately be interested in either, ROTD was a great game with some cool character designs..

Yes shattered soldier is good but as a whole the series has all but died just like Final Fantasy and MegaMan.

Hmmn I'm confused O_O

AFAIK Atlus bought the rights

and imo the gba versions are mediocre at best, a far cry from the greatness that is the combatribes, double dragon 2, super double dragon etc etc

I thought the GBA DD Advance was AWESOME. Theyt had shitloads of levels from NES part 1 and 2, and arcade versions (including some NES version-only stuff), along with killer renditions of songs from both versions.

Even bosses from part 2 show up in this game which essentially plays like part 1. There's a lot of great surprises in DDA sure to please hardcore DD fans. I was pretty psyched whenever I saw little details they threw in. Very Cool DD game...maybe the best.

Imo double dragon 2 NESand Super Double dragon SNES are so much better than DDA, it isn't even funny....

and maybe I was a bit harsh on it but still not even in the same league, it's prolly the grumpy old fart in me speaking anyway :/
