WTF...I want to import for the Saturn for a couple fucking games and I get screwed. (or screw myself as usual)

I bought this Action Replay off of ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8172469934&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

Now it clearly says that Vampire Savior (one of the games I want to play) doesn't work with this cart. But I'm told by people that it's bullshit. So I buy the fucking cart...and guess what, it doesn't fucking work. I get some screen when booting up in japanese and all I can make out is 4RAM...I'm guessing its asking me to insert a RAM cart.

So I check online for maybe a code or something and I find out that all carts released after Vampire Savior came out are supposed to have this fixed. I just bought my fucking cart a couple weeks ago...WTF...I think thats after 1998.

Then I find out that I can fix the cart by messing with the insides...thats not gonna happen cause I have no idea what I'm doing.

Then I check back on ebay and see that the guy who sold me my cart has the super ultra rare "latest version" of the same fucking thing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8175145183&tc=photo

$70.00...WTF

So not only are imports expensive as hell, but I also wasted $30, and I would have to spend $70 more just to play the few games I want :eek 2:

I wonder why I even bother with this shit.

/rant (more like crybaby talk)

Of course any help would be appreciated :(

There are guides online that explain how to fix the Replay...i believe that what needs to be done isnt overly complicated.

Just look on Google, fix the cart, and quit worrying that its going to cost so much.

You'll either need to get a a 4-1 ST-key to play any imports involving multiable megs or get a regional switch installed somewhere. Last time I looked Videogamedepot and NCSX could installed the switch. If that doesn't work, I think Sesshoumaru has a ST convortor for sale too. Maybe you should try asking him.

Well, I've calmed down a bit since yesterday. My father said he is going to try and help me with the fix. If it doesn't work then I'm not sure what I'll do...maybe get the system itself modded? Tomorrow we will attempt the procedure...I'll keep you guys updated.

I did the fix and it worked perfectly, never soldered in my life, just some common sense, take your time and follow the instructions. I won't even solder my own modchip but that modification worked very easily! :D

The console region mod I posted above is a very simple procedure, and there's no need to pay someone else to do it if you're careful and aren't terrified of soldering. 4 connections on 4 jumper pads, wired to 2 switches - no lifting of pins or other tricky stuff.

I'm no electronics guru, but I've sucessfully done both a Mega Drive & Saturn in this fashion, and have had no problems with either.

Well thats better. We were able to mod the cart successfully and I just got done playing some Vampire Savior :D

And boy does that cart do its magic...there was barely any load times at all.
