SFA 3 and 3 Upper. If Third Strike had all the characters, I'm sure I'd like it better... otherwise SFIII characters pretty much suck on their own.

My favorite game in the series is Street Fighter II' - Champion Edition (Accelerator Pt+.II).

Being able to change characters mid-fight = best fighting hack ever.

:bad-words: SF2: Championship Edition!

SF3: 3rd (DC) -- has that unique size Jewel Case, another great!

It's a toss up between Alpha 2 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

I picked Alpha 3. I don;t know why, but it draws me back more then the others I own (I I don't own very many unfortunately).

I had to go with Street Figher Alpha 3, I wish that had been on SFAC instead of 3rd Strike, which I don't find particularly interesting or good. Actually, after buying that, it made me realize how much games like the Guilty Gear and Fatal Fury seires have entertained me more than the SF games seem capable of at this point in time.

I'm a big fan of Street Fighter EX + alpha on PSone & Street Fighter II CE on the PC engine.

1. 3rd Strike
2. SF 2'

I'm a big fan of Street Fighter EX + alpha on PSone & Street Fighter II CE on the PC engine.

The PC Engine version is the best 16-bit era home conversion, easily.
I actually really enjoyed some of the EX games, even though I got sick of the systems they show up on.

Sometimes I think I may get my PSX out of the closet eventually (He's not fooling anyone ya know...).

I really liked Alpha 3 at one point but over time I started to find it dull for some reason (the PS and DC ports are both kind of naff), I actually would rather play Alpha 2 (Sat) these days, or Alpha 3 on Saturn if I thought it was worth the insane prices it goes for.

Never cared much for the HyperXTurboness (I liked it when Zangief's moves did more damage for one thing, they weren't all that hard to pull off either, even the spinning piledriver, but eh)

That kind of speed should be reserved for vs. series games.

SFII on the SNES is one of the few fighting games I actually enjoy.

Alpha 3. The Playstation version.

3rd Strike and 2 Turbo are both incredible fighting games, but PSX Alpha 3 just has so much shit to do.

Maybe it doesn't count because it's not a "pure" SF, but my favorite is X-Men vs. Street Fighter.

Street Fighter 2 Turbo, by far.

Screw people who need their "tech throws", and "supers" and "parries". A good knowledge of the matchup coupledwith effective mindgames makes for more fun every time.

3rd Strike and Alpha 2

Although, I haven't played enough Alpha 3, maybe that will take over 2 someday.

None of the above.

Street Fighter Zero 2 for the PC.

It's either Third Strike or Alpha 3. I tend to prefer the back-to-basics in 3S, and the parry system is perfect when mastered. The music also rocks. It's the perfect mix of old and new.

So was the PS2 version as good as the Dreamcast?

Without a doubt, Street Fighter Alpha 3.

STREETFIGHTER3:Third Strike (PS2 SF:Anniversary Collection ver surprisingly @_@ )

SF3:3rd strike is the final realization of a perfected 2-D fighter with all that Capcom had learned in the many years since the relaese of the original SF2 back in '91 and was everything that I had hoped for when the first couple addtions were released in the arcade.
It is a truly beautiful game to look at AND play in my opinion.
Incrediblly fluid and detailed characters who are matched only by those in the Guilty Gear series althought those in SF3 are more detailed overall.
Great music that would have been the greatest fighter soundtrack ever 2-D or 3-D if it werent for the title track
Everytime I play Chun-li's stage I get a rush like I did waaay back in the Supernes SF2 days with Chun-Li being the most beautifuly animated and hightly detalied 2-D character I have ever seen plus the completely kick-a$$ stage music makes for a 2-D fighter fans wet dream.

While I always thought that the original Dreamcast port would never be beat I soon realized how wrong I was when I picked up SF:AC for my PS2 You could have knocked me over with a feather I saw detail , character animation and background graphics that were missing from my beloved and charished DC version :(

After all the years of GTA, Silent Hills , Metal Gears and other great franchises on the now venerable PS2 THIS WAS THE GAME THAT ACTUALLY MADE ME LIKE MY PS2 LOL
I dont know if the programmers just spent more time with the SF:Anniversary Collection or what but SF3:third strike on PS2 IS an ARCADE PERFECT PORT and if you compare the DC version side by side with the PS2 ver it is painfully obvious with missing frames of animation some not present at all in the DC version and missing background graphics such as effects and even trees etc.

Anyway I can die happy that I finally have and can play a perfect arcade port of Streetfighter 3 :D
Im wondering if Im the only gamer left alive that remembers waiting over 10 years for a true sequel to Streetfighter 2? :hmm:

Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, and Street Fighter II Turbo, in that order. SFA3 is my favorite because the cast size is impressive, the fighting mechanics are, IMO, the best in the game (juggles don't seem that hard to do anymore, for example), and as mentioned, the Playstation version is LOADED with extras. The ability to play as everyone from Super Street Fighter 2 along with all the new characters in the Alpha series is a very nice bonus indeed, and the three ISMs make for interesting plays and strategies. I also think that the difficulty is the most balanced in the series, and I'm not often cursing the AI for bleeding cheapness. Best Street Fighter ever!

SF3: TS comes in second because the diversity between all the characters is excellent, the graphics and sound are simply gorgeous, and although some people are put off at all the new characters, I think they're excellent designs! My three personal favorites are Alex, Dudley, and Ibuki, not to mention that I play good with them too. It doesn't help that this game was pretty much the only game in my Dreamcast for about six months or so. :D

And, of course, SF2T is the one that got me into the SF series. It was the fighting game I loved before I even loved fighting games, specifically the SNES version. Sure, SF2 for the SNES was the first one that I played, but for being more complete (what with all the new moves and the ability to play as the bosses), SF2T became my preference.

Street Fighter Alpha 3. Not quite as gameplay-honed perfection as the one that led the way (SFII) but twice as much style. However it's still my favorite.

/bows before SF II Turbo

ahem...

What's everyone's favorite stage/music in any of the games? Mine would have to be the Australian stage in SFAII; grass stage at night during a thunderstorm. Was the stage in which you fought the Shin-Super-beat-you-up-tear-you-down-Akumijanonimamma version of Akuma that just makes you cry. Also a hidden stage in vs. and regular modes.

Favorite Character: Ken
Least Favorite: Sodom (What's with the name, what's he not telling us?) :hmm:

3S, barnone. It has the best gameplay compared to all other versions of SF. I've been playing SF from day one, and although SF series are great, except SFMovie, 3S is the king of 2D. Not only it has the best soundtrack, the best and most obscure cast, the best animation even compared to GG, it has the best gameplay. I love Alpha series too, Champion Edition is broken, Hyper Fighting fixed that.

I went with Super Street Fighter 2, because I played it the most, and because I was the most excited about it. Maybe it was the hype, but those four new characters really blew me away. It seemed so wrong and so right at the same time.

From what I hear, I might like Third Strike more, but I haven't really played it much... it seems very similar to the VS. series, which is all I have really played of fighters for years... all a bit too complicated for me. I'll take Super Street Fighter 2 anyday.

The original alpha was awesome.. it was the first to get out of the graphic style that it had stuck with for years..

3rd Strike is nothing like the Vs. series. It's complex and yet simple at the same time, and it has none of the ridiculous over the top nonsense featured in the Vs. games. It is a far more refined and polished game.

I'm wondering about all these SFA3 votes... I have a feeling a lot of people are just voting for Alpha 3 by default without having put much time in Alpha 2. To me, Alpha 2 is much more balanced and plays a lot better, and I also think it has cooler music and atmosphere.

Alpha 3 for it's character variety and styles (although I never strayed too far from either X or A...never V), and third strike simply because I'm learning to parry.

Street Fighter Zero 2 for the PC.

Just so you know, Zero = Alpha. the series was called Street Fighter Zero in japan, but for some reason they felt the need to change it to "Alpha" for us English speaking folks.

Re-reading this thread definitly makes me want to put more practice into Hyper so... y'all excuse me ;)

I voted for Alpha 3, it was the most fun for me. I got it when it first came out on Playstation. Fei-Long was my favorite character, he had some killer combos. Right now I'm trying to find the game for Dreamcast and for the GBA.

Street Fighter II-Championship Edition for Genesis is my favorite. Yesterday, I tried Street Fighter 2 for the Snes and I couldnīt believe how slow the game was (I always play at Speed 6-7 on the Genesis). It took me some matches to even beat the first few rivals because of the different reaction time required.

Best:- Street Fighter III: Third Strike over Alpha 3 but only just.
Worst:- Street Fighter The Movie (game of the film of the game it didn't work with 'Double Dragon' either ^-^)

Personally I prefer the DC version of Street Fighter III: Third Strike over the one on the PS2/XBox Anniversary collection but that's mostly due to the excellent DC arcade sticks.

I agree with the SF:Alpha 2 statement the Saturn version was my favorite 2-D fighter for YEARS that is until I got SF3 on DC. Alpha 3 was good but everything in Alpha 2 seemed perfect from the hit detection to the killer backgrounds and my fav part of the whole game EVIL RYU
I also no longer have any of my Saturn games and a single Saturn unit with only one contol pad.

How I miss Streeftighter Alpha 2 on Saturn :(
