Odd PSX insert variant/Evil Zone

I'm sort of new to doing actual "collecting", so forgive me if this is something that's common knowledge. I pick up a copy of Evil Zone for PSX from EB today for $2.99 used, no biggie, but I noticed the back cover insert is odd.

The side under the disc tray is completely black, no artwork or that ridged design on the left side of all PSX inserts. Also, the spine lists the part number as "SLOS-0855"...the manual is the usual SLUS number. Now I've never seen a SLOS prefix before, and the plain black insert is odd.

Anyone ever seen something like this?

My copy is the exact same as descirbed and i found in the cheap-o bin at a local department store. I saw another copy at a game store that looked the same way.

Is this not the way the game package is supposed to look?

The back of the spine on my copy of Evil Zone is black. However I have a SLUS-0855 nu,ber on the back.

Looks like we may have another typo variant, like how the Gundam was "Gundum" for a while.

As for the insert inside being all black, that's not to uncommon. EA was really lazy with long box to jewel case conversions, left all the insides stark white.

Mines the same way. Black inside cover, manual has SLUS-00855 while the spine says SLOS-00855.
