Do I need the specific one that came with the sega cd or can I use something else? Stupid question I know, but I would appreciate any help.
Thanks!

I used a Master System adapter. As long as the voltage and polarity are the same, you're in business.

The front & top both use the same supply.
Thanks for the info.
Anyway back on subject: Don't use a NES AC, or it will blow it's fuse. I did that to mine... You can imagine my reaction- "X_x What happened?" But it is fixed now.

Im thinking of buying a universal adapter, but the AMP is 1.5. Would that harm it?

Hey
The SegaCD uses the same power adapter as the Genesis model 1.
You can always use a power supply that has more amperage than you need but don't use one with less.
I have a few different Sega power supplies that are either 9 or 10 volts. Thats no biggie of a difference.
As long as you don't mix AC and DC .. For those about to rock .....
