Nokia is doing all the right things finally with its handheld. System price droped down to $99 games down $25-$15. They've cancelled a bunch of games that weren't turning out good. As a result the games that are getting released are getting good reviews and the games coming out look even better. A newer model of the QD is on the way. I wonder how long the N-gage can survive with its niche market. I really doubt that they will ever be competitve with Nintendo and Sony's handhelds but their reputation is getting better and user base is growing. I'm already a big fan but I was wondering if they were making any new fans.

Some N-Gage titles to look forward too:

Rifts
High Sieze
System Rush
Mile High Pinball
One

Do you happen to have a list of games they cancelled? I agree that they made some right decisions by cancelling some games, but I was really looking forward to Virtua Cop.

Nokia's reason's were these games weren't meeting thier expectations.

Alien Front
Virtua Cop
Driv3r
Gikedo (I thought this one looked good)
Tatio Memories (we already knew that)
Leisure Suit Lary

and any other game that has droped off of the official N-Gage game sites coming soon page have been confirmed as being canceled. If you don't see it on that page it's not coming out at least in the US. I guess they might always sweeps some of this stuff out the backdoor ala Sega Rally.

$99 is to buy it as pre paid phone. I've never had a pre paid phone so I don't know how they work but I always thought they didn't need a contract.

well, that won't really help me, because i dont need a cell at all, not even prepaid and chances are at that price you have to prepay for multiple months, possibly a year or so, or for a very large chunk of use as you go minutes

they need to come out with a version of the N-Gage with no phone functions (i guess that ruins multiplayer though)

it would be my guess though that the cheaper price might also lower the used system prices. so that might be another opiton to get it without a contract.

the other day gamespot had used systems for less than $40 after codes and what not....but, that was online so i wouldnt get to see the system and you dont know if it is complete in box

now, if someone has a complete in box model 1 or 2 for $40, id be glad to buy it

Collecting for the N-Gage has been the cheapest collection I've ever started. I have the QD System and 31 of the 35 released US games.

Spending only after rebates and stuff $90 (probably more if you figure it with tax but I'm too lazy to ad that in)

QD System $75 with a plan (through amazon.com w/t-mobile)
17 games @ $5 each = $85 (thanks ebgames)
6 games @ $10 each = $65 (thanks ebgames)
4 games @ $15 each = $60
3 games @ $20 each = $60
1 game @ $25 each = $25

Total spent = $370

$200 rebate for using it as a phone
$20 X 4= $80 N-Gage Rebate for buying 3 games (limit up to 4 times)

Total $280 in rebates all which I've recieved now.

Nokia seems to always have a deal going to keep buying thier games and it's worked for me so far. The downside to collecting for the N-Gage is that most of the early release games are total crap. The upside is the games coming out now are some of the best portable games I own.
