OK .. so the high bidder is a noob who may know no better. But the second bidder buys & sells tons of Megadrive games. Why on earth has he put in a £70+ bid???

Some games there sell quite well, but a few are very common.
Anyway if he buys them for profit....
Thats a different story, thats about how much that games are worth and hes profit will be Zero.

I see about £25-£30 worth of games there. Nothing rare, nothing valuable.

How much can I get for all of these?

Maybe $5 - $10 each except Heavy Unit which you might get $20 - $30 for. If the game adapter has dip switches on it you might be able to get $40+ for that. Otherwise $10 - $20.

the games in the auction are definately not worth that much. it did however make me want to play Earthworm Jim. :)
Looks like a shill to me.

Is there any reason to think that other than the fact that a bid was retracted?
Shill bidding is generally done with a new account, not one with 6000+ feedback.

Why else would someone who clearly knows the value of megadrive games place such a ludicrous bid? And £101 is obvioulsy way above the value - but it would show what the other guy's max bid was.
And then to place another bid, for an equally silly amount, that happens to be *just* below the other guys max bid? If that's not shill bidding, I don't know what is!

Hmm, it's possible I guess, but the retracted bid was placed *after* the £72.22 under-bid.
Why risk such an established account, though? It's always possible that there's no connection to the seller, and they just wanted to make them pay as much as possible, for some reason.
'spose that's still shilling of a sort, but more of a grey area under eBay rules.

My guess is that it was some sort of experiment.
Maybe the seller and bidder(s) were hoping lots of people would see, then next week they list for real, hoping buyers will bid silly money thinking those games are valuable.
