All of the ones I've played I enjoyed, those being the NES, GB, and arcade.

I have yet to play the latest version, but probably once the price goes down. I've heard mixed thoughts about that one...

The arcade game is by far the best. It's a shame about the Genesis port. I like the NES game(shooting the musician is funny) and the new game is a decent third-person shooter.

Ditto,

It's all about the replay value, gameplay and fun factor.

While I haven't played the new game yet, I'd have to say that it'd have to be really good in order to stand a chance of topping the arcade game. The only other game I've played more of at an arcade was Aliens vs. Predator. Capcom did an amazing job with the Punisher arcade game; the Punisher and beat 'em up genre was the perfect marriage as far as ideas go.

On the other hand, my friend swears up and down that the new Punisher game is fantastic. He says it's a lot of fun. That's all I've heard about it though.

myself being a HUGE punisher fan, i bought the new punisher game for xbox right away. To tell you the truth its actually a pretty good game. I would'nt play it if i did'nt have a modded xbox though, as you woudlnt be able to get the uncensored version, seeing how you can execute an enemy each time makes the game worth it, otherwise it would just be a mediocre third person shooter. and the scene with the russian makes the whole game worth playing for sure.

Well, I'll tell you one thing, it's certainly not the Game Boy game.

Hey, come on, now! The Game Boy game was certainly decent!

A watered down version of the NES Punisher, yes, but it was still a lot of fun.

Arcade version first, but the new game is awesome on Xbox, especially if you play the uncensored version on a modbox. It removes all the edited kills and removes the b&w filter from the bloody scenes. The game was really fun, a Max Payne-ish game with some great villians and gueststars from the Punisher comics and Marvel universe, and Tom Jane does some great voice work.

Hey

I have a Punisher WAD for DOOM II that is the hardest WAD I have ever played. It makes the Master Levels look like smurf doom...

Does that count for a punisher game?

I'd have to say Capcom's beat 'em up (arcade version, yo) followed by the newest console version. Man, that's a fun game!

Arcade version in the first place and after that, the Genesis port is pretty good...

The newest version is great! Laughed my ass off when you go to Tony Starks (Ironmans) facilities and it makes a reference to Half-Life. Overall, a great action game. Luckily, the Punisher is a comic license that has fared well, and never had any real disappointments in the series, the same could not be said for the X-men, Spiderman, Wolverine (although next-gen consoles seem to be capturing the whole superhero genre beautifully).

The new version is really good, but ONLY IF you hack it to turn the violent killin' back on.

All ya'll need to play the Paragon Software Punisher (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/punisher) game.

Hell, Paragon did some awesome Marvel licensed games back in the day, but Punisher and Xmen 2 (which both used the same basic engine, i believe) were their best.

The driving segments haven't aged well at all, i'm sure...but the developers had the foresight to allow you to skip 'em if needed (or you can walk, IIRC). Sweet top down action in that bad boy. Seriously. Better than the crummy arcade beat 'em up, better than the crummy NES game, and better than the not-too-bad Xbox game.

and yea, X-Men 2 was pretty good, X-Men was a fun action/adventure but is pretty hard, and Spiderman was pretty neato..hell.. I liked all of their games...classics, I tell you. Classics.

It says Amiga there too. But I seem to remember the Amiga version of the game being a bush league mouse controlled version of Operation Wolf.

Amiga version is totally different and from a different developer. Mobygames mixes up games pretty frequently (for example, look at Metal Gear Solid and notice how they group the GBC game under it even though it's really Metal Gear:Ghost Babel). I think it all comes down to people being too lazy to submit a new game entry and then put a note in to split the current entry off into the new one.

But considering how long it takes them to approve the recommendations and how frequently they'll kick entries out for the most trivial shit, I don't blame anyone for not submitting.

Track down a DOS copy and fire that sucker up in DOSbox. Thank me later :)

Having not played this awesome Arcade game, I'll have to go with NES. I can pop that baby in and enjoy a good shootin' any time.

One of the few good LJN games.
