I was just searching the rarity guide but didn't find this listed. I was wondering whats the rarity and the worth of a loose Gameboy Light (the actual system).

Not sure, but I would guess around $10 - $15 maybe. Dont think its worth alot.

I watch these quite a lot on ebay, even have a couple here's what I know and remember:
A Gold or Silver one, the only "normal" editions: approx. 40-50$ loose, 100+ Boxed, I picked up my boxed gold one for 75$ I think.
The Famitsu Skeleton (clear) Limited Edition (5000 units each is numbered) GBL: Comes in 2 editions, mail order and event, I've only seen 1 of each since I started looking (about a year now, both boxed), the Event version went for 132.75$, and is in my room back at home. The mail order version went for 250-300$ I can hardly remember, i remember for sure it was WAY too much for me.
Astro Boy Editions, there's a Red one and a Clear one (the clear one is cool the circuitry of the GB is visible through Astroboys head, it gives the effect of seeing inside of him), they are on ebay every once in a while, I've seen them both go for as little as 90$ (I fell asleep dangit!!!), and as much as 200$ for one.
Toys R Us Limited Edition see-through yellow, the bane of my collecting! I've wanted one of these for a long time but I"ve never seen one anywhere, no idea of the value, other than very very high (couple hundred at least) if I had to imagine.
Pokemon Yellow Limited Edition, another one I don't remember ever seeing on ebay, I've heard it's rare, but I've also heard it's common, I'm not really sure either way.
Here's a site I found a while back and posted here, it's really helpful and has images of each one!

Hope that helps!

The gameboy lights are rarest in this order.....
Toys r us skeleton yellow (only ever seen 2 for sale & both were unboxed pretty cheap at £30 though but i want a boxed one)
Pokemon centre pikachu yellow edition, made for the grand opening of the pokemon centre in tokyo.
famitsu edition & astroboy editions
regular gold & silver editions.
Oh & cauterize if you want i have a spare, pretty worn gold gameboy light you can have if you pay for postage. the paint is pretty scuffed & theres a few scratches on the screen. Also the backlight flickers very slightly but its in working order.
It's been sat in the same place for months on my table under a thick layer of dust but its yours if you want it. :D

Feel free to correct the title of this thread anytime. I was hoping to see some kind of futuristic video gaming robot that lights up or something.

If you pay $150 for a used and loose GB light u have to be crazy, no mather how rare it is. Considering you can get a GBA magnifier and light for like 1 cent. 3rd party i know, but it still works.

You may have been too busy paying like 1 cent for your GBA magnifier and light to notice, but this is a COLLECTOR'S community.

I found a Gold GB Light in the wild and bought it. After playing with it for a few days I sold it because I had my SP and I don't really collect or play the old GB games.
I will say this, that light is real easy on the eyes and very pleasant to look at while playing. I can see how a GB collector would really want one of these.

I purchased a normal silver Game Boy Light CIB and minty for $40 a year or two back on eBay. Of course I only bought it for "collecting" purposes, but quite honestly I'd have to say that it is the best B&W GB...It's sooo much better than the Game Boy Pocket.

Is this a collectors community? Wow i didnt know. I must have missed it after my nearly 650 posts. Thanks so much for clearing that up for me!
And how do you know that i got a magnifyer for GBA? Hm.. thats strange, i dont even have one. So.. why did you say that I had one? Please explain this to me, found this very strange.
Maybe you payed $150 for one old dusty GB light and felt hit about what i said.. who knows. Sorry for this then, i didnt mean to offend you by my opinion.

Do what?
It might have been some confusion here. I talked about the Light Boy. Of course, a Gameboy Light is worth more than $20. Sorry for mixing up names. But I ment the Light Boy (2nd picture, addon), to pay $150 for a loose and used i find crazy. But this is my opinion.

Good grief.
Go back and read the thread from the beginning. The original poster is talking about Game Boy Light, a valuable collectible. You're saying it's not valuable because you're apparently talking about LIght Boy, something completely different.
Please don't argue when you a) don't have a point or b) aren't paying attention to the topic.

It's by and far my favorite GB design.
I'd rather play classic GB games on a GB Light than on a color or advance any day of the week, I think it's the most comfortable, and looks the best for classic GB games.

Big difference here, XxMe2NiKxX (please don't ever make me type that handle in again :)) is clearly kidding around. I don't even know him but I can *hear* him say it!
I have one of the Famitsu Game Boy Light models, complete in box. I'm not sure if it's the event or the mail order version, how can I tell? My box is black with deep purple highlights.

You have the mail order version. The mail order version comes in the black box with purple writing.
The event version comes in a blister pack with cartoon picture of a woman in a spacesuit.

As said earlier, I agree though I like the 'feel' of the original big clunky one the best. But this is close, and this looks the best for the B&W GB games..definitely.
